i got on the bus today and sat behind some normalfags, they were talking about brad pitt and then one of them started talking about the movie troy, then the other one said that the illiad was "basically the avengers of greek mythology because the writer of the illiad took a bunch of pre-established greek gods and heroes and put them together in one story" he then went on to claim that the illiad was the first crossover in history.
i was so disgusted that i got off the bus and walk all the way to my destination.

I'm almost finished with it (book 22), and I have to say that after seeing Troy the movie and comparing it to the source material, the movie was utter shite, the only good thing about it was Brad Pitt as Achilles, who was at least badass in the movie

While your disdain at their ignorance is wholly justified, I think that this guy's comparison of the Iliad to the Avengers is kind of cute. I wonder how the comparisons would work actually.

Achilles = Captain America
Odysseus = Iron Man
Nestor = the black guy with an eye patch
Loki = Paris

Who are Hector, Helen, and Agamemnon?

Or maybe Achilles as Hulk makes more sense. He has the whole waifu thing going on, and his shtick is that he's an unstoppable killing machine but gets all moody.

That's actually kind of genius. I'd seen the Greek God/superhero parallel before, but never considered directly comparing old stories to new movies.

Your normie friend is awesome.

It's not my fault that Iliad is the ancient Greek version of Captain America: Civil War.

Achilles is mad his lover Patroclus got killed while impersonating him. Iron Man is mad Winter Soldier killed his parents while under bad guy hypnosis.

Both conflicts are driven by death. One story peaks with Achilles fighting Hector. The other peaks with Iron Man fighting Captain America.

How old are you, OP? Eventually, as you grow older, you won't be bothered by these people and on the other hand meeting someone patrician (for lack of a better word) will be a pleasant surprise.
