it starts off ok then he begins to bombard you with quotes, mostly poems of mystics which are usually vague, so to speak, as it is without much exposition in contrast so trying to interpret them becomes a chore.

The Prince a lot of it I found to be somewhat common sense necessities for rulership like the disloyalty of mercenaries, the destruction of conquered principalities to force them into long term submission, etc, was a nice read but not as cold as it's hyped up to be

As for Leviathan I can somewhat accept Hobbes' arguments asserting monarchy is the most "efficient" (not the word he used) form of government but a monarch is as plagued as an assembly would be of faults and proneness to flattery. Its importance in political philosophy is obvious though, some of his ideas on liberty could be used to criticize mainstream politics.
