After that, maybe Pliny into Avicenna into Ibn Al-Haytham's Optics into some other stuff. I love that area of reading. I have yet to get into Pliny, but I want to because of how influential he was. Alhazen is a good, but at times compared to his peers COMPLEX, author. There is a man who combined Euclid with Aristotle. :3

I was just told this by a guy with a PhD in Biology and a smattering of degrees in philosophy.
Thoughts? Basically his claims are anti-reductionist materialism where he believes that normativity and subjective experience cannot be reduced to mere laws of physics, however, these things (subjectivity, values, etc.) are purely conceptual or linguistic--i.e. have no genuine substance. He thinks science has ultimate authority in regards to defining reality. He has laughed at the idea of religion before. (I'm not religious, but for context the guy hasn't read a work of theology in his life.)
