A pseud's argument will consist solely of references to other's works. If an argument is defended along the lines of "the evolutionary Hegelistic notion of anti-primitive communistic theory derives in a nietzchean manner the unequivocal neo-platonistic truth of the social contract," it is most certainly a pseud. The difference between a pseud and one who is intelligent is the capacity to think for one's self; the pseud thinks that being well read allows him to create an argument, while an intelligent being reads to understand what has already been learned and formulate something to advance his or her field.

I do the opposite, but not on purpose - but attentive acquaintances usually remind me where I read what I have assimilated.
I don't think I've had an original thought, or at least not a lot.

I like people who namedrop though even if he was pseud. In this Case I can always search the author and books, read them and expand my world.

While reading true intellectual will just make me go " this guy is saying the truth " or " damn he is so smart " and end right here.

Yeah but pseuds always think they're intelligent enough to defend their views with 'arguments' that non-pseuds reject for being flawed in some important ways. But pseuds are incapable of seeing how their own arguments are flawed, or why the non-pseuds are right. They therefore reinforce their own pseudness. There's value to demonstrating that you're not a pseud by showing some pedigree. It's a valid heuristic device. Of course the most secure pedigree is actual years-long formal academic education in a field (such as philosophy) but good luck telling people on /lit/ that's what it takes. /lit/ is made up of pseuds claiming the heuristic devices to tell pseuds apart from non-pseuds are somehow invalid. On that picture, 'pseud' is just whoever you disagree with.
