I guess its superior if you like 35 year old YA readers constantly justifying their literature choices

>> No.14245328

and r/philosophy is lightyears ahead of the psuedo philosophy found here

I know you hipsters think its cool to hate on reddit, but its plainly superior not like this toxic cesspool

Like the title says, I finished Brave New World and feel so broken, there are moments where I feel as if I want to cry. Huxley did such an amazing job in describing his dystopian future, I believe the characters were very interesting and each had good and bad qualities to them. I understand the ending of the book places Lenina’s life up to interpretation. I like to believe she still lives. I know there must be many parts i don’t understand, but this book is just so wonderfully written. I recommend everybody reads the book! I was assigned this for a project, but I ended up falling in love. Aligning this to philosophy, I feel many of Mustapha Monds explanations to this Brave New World lie in historicism. Morals, truth, religion, etc... all lie in the current time period, they will never be the same. However, the one difference seems to be that Mond wants to prevent this society from advancing. I want to leave this open for discussion. I would like to hear how everybody else feels about the novel. Please don’t hesitate to respond.

Literally no one in that thread is discussing literature. They're just discussing the economics of small retail outlets. You have chosen the worst possible thread to illustrate your "point".

Unfortunately, friend, Reddit is where the many brainlets congregate to quell their identity dysphoria. Here, in /lit/, the last great scholars of our time come to mingle with other great thinkers and pass knowledge to and from one another, all across the great webway. /lit/ is the paradigm of free discourse, where one can come and partake in our milk and honey, free of the stigmas of society and their barriers around debate.

Individuals from many walks of life will pilgrimage here looking for enlightenment, comraderie, and the great thrill of philosophical debate, which us scholars provide and provide abundantly. Even lowly and odd redditfag will stumble across our humble community—sometimes looking for enlightenment, but oftentimes, only look to act like fools. Us /lit/ophosers will outstretch our hands to the feeble-minded, but very few accept our wisdom. Woe to those who come here to mock us! They are not yet of the understanding to know the error of their ways! Woe to them!

I like the structure of chan imageboards, its visual medium; I despise a lot of the culture, ie. the racist /pol/ and immature /b/ mentality and misanthropic incel influence, drags everything down to the lowest common denominator

Free speech is great to a degree, but given free reign it devolves into toxic polemics and gives undue voice to the lowbrow vulgar

Reddit is just the mass herd streamlining thoughtcontrol of internet culture. the Chans have always been about anonymous freedom and independence, whereas Reddit is tightly controlled and relies on upvotes and herdism and virtue signaling via usernames. It's just another broken facet of the declining contemporary times.
