Is there a single good literary author from the last 20 or even 30 years? It seems like every author nowadays who writes fiction is a weak piece of shit who just tries to romanticise every mundane part of their life. They don't have any real experiences to write about so they just romanticise being '''poor''' and living in shitty apartments in the city that cost $2000 a month

Please show me how I'm wrong, if I am.

Also all these authors are left wing. Would love to know that there are authors out there who are not boring left wing weirdos.

Can’t argue with that.

Zadie Smith, David Foster Wallace, Jonathan Franzen, Ben Lerner, Dionne Brand, Don Delillo, Dave Eggers, and Michael Chabon are all fiction writers that don't romanticize being poor.
