I read Kaufmann a few weeks ago, the first half was extremely good with natural rhythm and rhyme, but the second half fell apart somewhat with less rhyming and a weaker plot. I am not sure to what degree this is something attributable to the original or the translator.

Tezuka made many good adaptations and original works.
This one fits into his Gekiga fase.
Basically more mature comic books aimed at an adult public.
Most of them are loosely based on the source material tho.

Luke's translation keeps rythmn and rhyme or attempts to at least. The language isn't overly complex but still has subtlety to it.

I tried Bayard Taylor's translation first and it felt off-beat and unnatural.

I've only read parts from Kaufmann's translation but his translation is also good but I preferred Luke's translation so stuck with that.

Yea, funny that. I guess it could of just been a part of his impersonation. Still, it also seems in regards to Huxley that he was one of these technological modernist revolutionary's who just wanted to look away from it all but still advocated for, and progressed forward the impersonal globalisation of modernity.
