What really matters to you? Do you want a relationship with your kids? In some ways not really knowing my father benefitted me but in others fucked me up pretty good. Two things I can say is that if you care about your kids make sure you have a good relationship with them like a father is supposed to. Not non-existent but not that touchy feely all the time shit either. I didn’t have much relationship with my father at all. It wasn’t bad it just wasn’t really substantive so when it came time to pick sides I went with mom out of sheer familiarity. I was 12. I’d also say that if it comes to that she weaponizes them against you and it seems all is lost you should continue to reach out and such but you may have to just let them go and hope they come back when they wise up after bathing in mom’s insanity for a few years.
