I own a copy of Dante's The Divine Comedy. Does anybody know where the best place to find more Franklin Library leather-bound books, they're are apparently pretty rare?

I wish, try trawling used bookstores in your town.

My Collected Sherlock Holmes stories is pretty fancy looking with facsimiles of the old Strand Magazine pages where the stories were first published

I have a number of old first editions. The most valuable is either a 1st edition Huck Finn or a 1st edition of one of Lang's Fairy books (I think Yellow), depending on what antiquarian prices are doing at any moment. Now that I think of it I have a number of signed first edition Ishiguros, but I haven't bothered checking their price since he won the Nobel. Used to have a nice 1st of Hemingway's 5th Column, but I gave it to one of my employees as a gift on their retirement.

FWIW, Easton/Folio/Franklin/etc are rarely actually worth the price the press charges you for them, and if you're interested in monetary value or rareness they are not the way to go, though admittedly they often look OK on a shelf.

That's probably a decent direction although the chances are pretty low depending on the quality of the bookstore

Never used ebay before, but I'll check it out

That sounds really intriguing. That type of content is why I like the prospect of owning collectors items. For example, my copy of Dante's work contains prints of Gustave Dore's engravings interspersed throughout the pages.

Monetary turn over is of no interest to me, only acquiring them for my growing collection of books.

Decent shape, franklins fetch $ 25-40 CDN for full leather 1970-1985 copies.
