Hey guys, I like the people from this board, but as a r9ker I feel out of place here. I need to get out of r9k, but I feel too dumb to be here. Or anywhere else.

stop using the internet. What ever social skills you think you gain here are worse then the atrophy of crazed solitude

Could you elab?
I'm trying to get out of there, If I want attention I'd go on there since I'm known there. I'd like to get back into reading, and be surrounded with more "normal" people. I just don't really know where to start.

>> No.13980754

>>13980718
Every time you get yourself into /r9k/, open a book and read a chapter. If the book doesn't get your attention after the first chapter, change it. I know it's not enough to know if a book is really worth it, but for someone who is starting you need to reprogram yourself before going deeper.
>You can do it

I'm off r9k, and they pretty much all hate me there already. It just felt like, the only place where I could talk with relatable people, where I could be myself. But everything has only went more downhill. Weird how much influence such place can have.

>>13980745
I'd not be able to do so, really. It's all I have at this point.

thank you, I appreciate it. The community here is so different. I would have to leave the house and get books, I've developed agoraphobia, and became a shut-in. Not sure how to do so. Also, my attention span is close to non existent. I've destroyed my brain.

/int/ is the best place to just browse. This place is awful and the only worthwhile thing you can get out of it is shitposting about things you already know a fair amount about.

Thank you for your advice. This place looked comfy though. I will take a look in /int/

I can't quit cold turkey. I'm trying to change boards first.

You won't improve much if you will just switch one board for another, limit your internet time, it's ruining your attention span. Force yourself to make reading a habit. Try reading a bit every day at around the same time. Start with just how many pages you can read without losing focus, even if it's just 5 pages. That's still 5 more than if you didn't read at all. And over time those 5 pages will turn to 10, 20, 50

There are a lot of mental problems that have to be addressed first. I've agoraphobia, so I am basically locked in my room. And being on r9k makes it worse hence a switch could be on a subconscious level beneficial. Thank you for advice, I will try to get back into reading. Is there anything you can recommend me?

>Is there anything you can recommend me?
I would recommend you checking the sticky, there's a link to a /lit/ wiki which has tons of charts on all kind of books. Don't get tricked into reading something you don't enjoy or have interest in, there are a lot of pretentious anons here that don't even read, you don't need to impress them. Focus on what you find interesting instead

>I can't quit cold turkey. I'm trying to change boards first.
I understand totally but this isn't the best place. It seems like a nice place but once you've made a note of all the interesting sounding books that this board mentions you begin to see /lit/ for what it is, a shitposting board with delusions of grandeur. Come by all means but keep your eye on the exit at all times.

Butterfly may feel a bit threatened by a younger, more fertile set of ovaries in her territory - and we all know what happened to the last female who accidentally found herself in our fair land. Watch your back, femanon; our goddess’s wrath matches that of aegis-bearing Zeus.

She's a tripfag called Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ (or Butterfly). Everything she types is infuriatingly banal and dense. She's been here for ages. She went away for a while and things were great. Then she came back. Incidentally /lit/ has been rapidly turning into "/tv/ for books" ever since
