In many aspects indeed. He was against gun grabbing, against the abolishment of the nuclear family unit, against all modern kinds of degeneracy you can think of and, despite being a semite in blood, he despised the greedy new rich elite and saw Imperialism as the primary threat to the rights of all and the private ownership of land by the people. He is vilified and badly misrepresented.

>> No.13928062

Marx favored the abolition of the family. He already saw it happening in front of his very eyes with capitalism. The problem, which Lenin points out, is that the *bourgeois* abolition of the family, its replacement with free love, thinks of itself just in the terms of sex, not love. So you end up having these anti-social weirdos who think empty fucking with people left and right is somehow progressive or whatever. Free love, for Marx and Lenin, meant that people would freely enter into relationships with each other based on mutual affection that would bring out from people their own free development as individuals. Free love is about the freedom to love, not the freedom to fuck. The latter is subordinated to the possibilities of the former.

This notion of family life actually emerges with bourgeois patriarchal monogamy, which replaced the de facto polygamy of feudalism, with a family unit where man and woman are seen as partners in a contractual relationship. With the notion of contractual partnership was the idea that from that there would be relationships based on mutual affection and equality. The problem with bourgeois marriage, however, is that its contractual partnership is ultimately for organizing the ownership of private property and the raising of children within the confines of a private domestic sphere, so that its division of labor (between the caretaker and the breadwinner) stifles the ability of the relationship to facilitate mutual improvement by subordinating husband, wife, and children to the reproduction of capital, and often in a patriarchal fashion where instead of free mutual development there is a relation of domination from father (breadwinner), to mother (caretaker), to children (which stifles their ability to develop into adults with freedom). Marriage makes people miserable and prevents relationships between people from realizing its true potential.

Also, Marx, following Adam Smith, supported colonialism, in that it created the conditions for a universal cosmopolitan world-order united by commerce and human rights, though saw both as insufficient for its full realization. In similar terms, Lenin saw imperialism as progressive, in that the growth of financilization created the possibility for the socialization of production, but prevented its full realization into socialism, by redividing the world to the extent that protectorates in the periphery were inabile to fully integrate themselves into this new world order in the terms of the development of humanity as a whole.

See how Lenin refers to liberation from the family as based on love.

https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/communist-manifesto/
See all the times where Marx brings up the family.

The abolition of the family replaces its private functions with social organizations: ie replacing private education with public education, etc., allowing for individuals to fully realize free human development through their romantic relationships; rather than say, staying in a miserable marriage because a divorce would destroy their livelihoods and their childrens' upbringing.

Oh yeah, forgot to add
https://www.marxists.org/subject/women/authors/mitchell-juliet/longest-revolution.htm
This traces the Marxist abolition of the family back to bourgeois patriarchal monogamy's abolition of feudal patriarchal polygamy.

It shouldn't be notd that the Communist family is nonetheless still "monogamous", as Lenin points out, in the sense it is dependent on the relationships between individuals. It's more "free" than rigid contractual monogamy, but it isn't a form of polygamy. Replacing loveless monogamous marriage to loveless polygamous sex, is bourgeois reactionary nostalgia for feudalism. It just creates another kind of misery and unfreedom.

The problem is that Marxism is a practical political science, not an abstract method within an academic discipline to superimpose unto reality.

It's scientificity is based on its attempt, through politics, to unravel political mystification. The problem is that politics is necessarily mystified, so that fulfilling a project of enlightenment necessarily gets bounds up the mode of thinking with ideological obscurity - that only points semi-consciously and one-sidedly to reified forms of social practice. The "theory" does not reveal the truth, the practice does.

The fact that Marxism historically loses its critical edge with the triumph of Stalinism, meaning a collapse into the mysticism of politics. Instead of a self-overcoming practice, that sought to immanently overcome contradictions from within, is just a tepid modernizing reformism with abstract theory that accommodates itself to social realities rather than try to overcome. The Communist movement ends up just building the foundations for capitalism, not communism.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's extremely unsustainable. People who hunt die more (killing large animals is dangerous, duh), and if a society loses its men, it can replace them (see Russia, WWII), but if it loses its women... It's over.

The point that Marx makes is how social oppression is ultimately based on mankind's relationship to nature. Social relations are mediated through economic relations of production, the metabolic between the wealth of society and nature. The materialization of social relations into economic relations establishes a second nature, a human nature, that exists apart from the actual natural world.

Marx's whole point is to continue on the legacy of modernity through furthering mankind's dominion over nature, which would reconcile humanity with nature. Instead the forces of so-called second nature, which are the materialization of social forces through capitalist production, control mankind.

>>13928384
Female hunter-gatherers didn't hunt because they were probably pregnant, or expected to. If they weren't, then they were too old for that kind of exertions.
