Cuckoo's Nest and Acid Test are two of my favorite books. Kesey was a genius but also a self-mythologizing asshole and someone I'd never want to hang out with.
It's baffling that most people don't know he introduced the world to LSD and started the 60s hippie movement (with possible CIA assistance). Understanding this is essential to understanding popular culture.
