It is immoral and illegal to do such a thing. Imagine going into a store and stealing a book. This is how authors and book companies make their living.

Alright hijacking this thread

I collect museum catalogs and the like to scan them, and I also have a collection of books on niche historical topics that I know no scans exist online of.

I'd love to join a private tracker or some other torrent/book piracy community to upload and share said shit for it to then spread online, but the only place I know via //g's private tracker guide is a place that requires you to work at a library and have access to their systems to rip digital copies as part of the sign up (which I don't and wouldn't need since I scan shit myself), as well as to worek your way there through other private trackers they take applications from except I don't give a shit about music, movies, etc to get in that way via other private trackers, with the only exoisting privater tracker i'm in being animebytes.

Advice?

That's sort of what I already do (see >>13832723

It would be laughably easy actually so long as you're taller than her and at least average looking. Look the last section of The Like Switch where the author breaks down how a victorian era spy got into the confidence of an english noblewoman that he'd never met before. The process would be much the same.

You're very uneducated. The tracker that you're talking about is BIB. You just need access to Overdrive which is typically done through getting a library card at your local library that's it. If you won't wanna work your way there, take the interview into MAM if you're interested in just getting access to a private tracker to upload those museum catalogs.

Not OP, but I get it. You have to understand though that some books aren't available to me. It's impossible to get some books due to where I live. Some books aren't even sold in this country and others are sent cheaply and once I was sent a book that was water damaged to hell and back.

I'm certain if you ask for example the internet archive, that they will help you get in touch with people interested in hosting and archiving such stuff.

Or only the title on soulseek, there's loads of books on there

>Imagine going into a store and stealing a book
This is clearly not the case. You write bullshit on purpose.
>Imagine going into a library and quickly copying a book by hand then reading the copies
This is what happens. Instead you get the computer do the copying at lightspeed, instead of scribbling it by hand for several hours like they did at Samizdat.

You have no right, legal or moral, to prohibit people from making copies of the works they legally bought in the first place. You have no right over other people's computers any more you have rights over their hands that do the handwritten copy. Anything else is arbitrary tyranny.

What about the author's children and grandchildren? If he left his intellectual property to his descendants, every time you're pirating that author's works you're letting those children starve!

Maybe the childlets should work for a living, instead of leeching off arbitrary monopoly rights as if faux-aristocrats of XVIII century Europe.

Imagine you bought a burger. However, it goes with a receipt that prohibits you for shitting with its leftovers! You have no right to shit with this burger! Except on Tuesdays from 6pm to 8pm Central American Time and Fridays 9-9:30am Bhutanese time. That's what I do, I legally prohibit you to do things with the thing I sold you, under threat of fines and imprisonment. Don't like my McBurger joints?
Too bad! Here state-enforced burger monopoly! Fuck you. Every single burger joint in your country prohibits you from shitting with burger leftovers outside the allowed hours. They know. They have "watermarks" enmeshed in the burger meat, so if you take an unlawful shit in your state-monitored toilet you have happy dudes kicking out your door and escorting you to jail for breaking the law.
Oh, and if you shit in the fields or forests away from state-monitored toilets, you are a shit pirate and everyone helping people take unlawful shits will get a prison sentence as if he murderraped six gorillion underage girls.

This is your publishing industry on Murrican IP laws.
