Aesthetically yes, it's disappointing that for the bulk of the Russian literature they publish they insist on using Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky translations. I am happy they choose to go with the Louise and Aylmer Maude translation for their edition of War and Peace.

Do you know if it's the Maude translation revised by the Maudes? I know there's a revised Maude translation by someone else but they actually revised their translation in the 30s and finished just before Aylmer died. As far as I know that revision is out of print. It was published by the Limited Editions Club and by Heritage Press.

Theyre absolutely based and redpilled, very good price for hardbacks with acid free paper. Dont always have the best translation option but almsot never have the worst available one

I tend not to buy hardcovers unless the book is over 700 pages long, 500 at a stretch.
