>the advent of religion
And, pray tell, when was this advent? Don't tell me, you prancing buffoon, you cretinous moron, that the first man was an atheist. Please don't make me laugh. Man in the past has created religions to explain what he could not explain, as the pagans did. We have risen from those primitive superstitions and the pendulum has swung to the other extreme (scientistic atheism).

>the consequences of religion
Everything has consequences. Science does. A replacement for religion does. So on and so forth, rinse and repeat ad infinitum.

>a disaster for the human race
I'll bet you think most wars were waged over religion, when in fact there were several motives- politics, land, women, money, glory, etcetera.

Clearly the first step toward industry, toward man dominating man through artifice, trickery, and harnessing the natural world toward base ends is the creation of this first object. Man henceforth places himself in the servitude of objects by relying on them, relying on their creation to satisfy his rather simple ends. The object creation becomes increasingly complex over time, the systems of objects lead to greater systems in order to sustain the further growth and acceleration of themselves, often at the expense of the natural human condition.

We find ourselves exhausting our planet and the very spirit of our species in the name of worship, kowtowing to this simple fucking drive to accumulate for its own sake, ostensibly to make life easier and better, but truly in servitude to the object.

You see, the invention of the pointed rock and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

Electrical engineer in the oil industry. While it is kind of boring the whole being a massive hypocrite is the part that's really a problem. For now im stuck with it, and it restricts my ability to say go to environmentalist protests to talk to people amenable to seeing the problem of tech.

Eh, I dislike vague statements like that. There are a myriad of causes and effects to things, one of them simply being perception. I cannot say if things are bad or good, just that there are causes and effects. The mechanization of the world has entered into a stage of most dangerous, excessive tension. The face of the Earth with its plants, animals and people has been altered. In a few decades most of the great forests have disappeared, have been transformed into newspaper and consequently climatic changes have occurred, which threaten the agriculture of entire populations; countless species like the buffalo have been completely or almost completely wiped out, entire races of men like the North American Indians and the Australian aborigines have been brought virtually to a state of extinction.

Man is an element of all-living nature, which rises in rebellion against nature. He must pay for this defiance with his life. Through this act of defiance man distinguishes himself from all other living things, which as pure nature are blended with the tapestry of the natural universe. Mankind is the hero of this tragedy. He is but an episode, a moment in the destiny of the world. The greatest part of the tragedy of human civilization is already past. The end dawns. We stand today at the climax, there, where the fifth act begins. The final decisions will be reached. The tragedy comes to a close.

That plough is a product of industrialization though (arguably industrialization has been underway since we started to use metals). The modern horse is the product of thousands of years of selective breeding.

If you think that living on the equivalent of 1 dollar a day is life as it should be I can't really argue with that except ask why you are giving in to your own weakness.
