13622764 No.13622764 [Reply] [Original]

I'm thinking about writing a short story about a far-left terrorist organisation that begins assassinating wealthy individuals, doxing their boltholes, and releasing anonymous videos making demands and expounding their ideology. Would you read it /lit/?

That's idiotic and paradoxical. Is your point "yeah idiotic and paradoxical, just like the left huehue"?

>> No.13622823

The first person to be killed is a Jeff Bezos like character. The richest man in the world. The poster child for capitalism.

The next day the first video is posted to Facebook, Youtube, 4chan and other platforms demanding a redistribution of wealth through the implementation of a global universal basic income to allow all individuals to live the lives they desire “rather than in service to the bourgeoisie, making work optional rather than exploitative” or the killings will continue. Of course no one complies, billionaires begin fleeing to their boltholes, and the assassinations continue.

>> No.13622846

I’m thinking the first page would be a description of the first body being found decapitated to evoke the French Revolution with EAT THE RICH written in blood on the wall above it.

It would be difficult for this organisation to gain access to such a wealthy individuals abode however, what with all the security they would have in place, so perhaps an old school assassination with a sniper rifle would be more appropriate. But that has less literary resonance to me. What are your thoughts?

>> No.13623016

But the far right is the one that’s had mass shooters and crazies trying to assassinate those in power? Why not write out what happens if the alt right wins? Then you’ll be seen as a prophet in a few years. Why not accelerate?

>But the far right is the one that’s had mass shooters and crazies trying to assassinate those in power?
Have there been assassination attempts by the alt-right? I thought they just shot up innocent civilians. I suppose I want to show how absurd people's concerns about the radical left are compared to the threat of the right given that this sort of thing doesn't happen. But there probably are people on the left this extreme.

Unrealistic. Those tumblrite socdem idpol dumbasses don't have the work ethic to do anything except complain; only real communists could conceivably start a movement or organization which has any real effect on our day to day life, as we can see they have in the past

That you would want to write that now, when both the far left and far right in America are placid simulations of what they were in the 1910s and 1970s, is amusing. Just read some of the literature already out there about far left terrorism, like Doris Lessing's The Good Terrorist.

>An avowed Donald Trump supporter in southern Florida was charged on Friday with sending pipe bombs to critics of the president, including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

>Thirteen of the devices were mentioned on a federal criminal complaint. A 14th device was reported by the billionaire Tom Steyer, who has called for Trump’s impeachment.

>Cesar Sayoc was arrested at an auto parts shop in the city of Plantation on Friday morning. His white van, which was covered in stickers celebrating Republicans and denouncing the president’s opponents, was parked outside.

>Asked why most of Sayoc’s alleged targets were Democrats, Sessions said: “He appears to be a partisan.” A court filing said the stickers covering Sayoc’s van included “images critical of CNN”, the TV station frequently derided by Trump, whose New York studios were the target of two bombs.

>The packages found on Friday were sent to two senators, Cory Booker of New Jersey and Kamala Harris of California; to James Clapper, a former director of national intelligence. Steyer, a donor to Democratic groups, said an additional suspect package addressed to him was intercepted in Burlingame, California.

It's a small fringe organisation. Protesting would be pointless in that it would never cause billionaires to redistribute the their wealth. And I agree that social democracy is gaining more mainstream support which is heartening, but forgiving student loans and implementing single-payer healthcare would be considered paltry in comparison by this organisation when juxtaposed with what they seek to accomplish.

“Everything’s untouched. The only person in here was his wife. Still hysterical.”
“Yeah, no shit.”
Her wails erupt once more from the downstairs foyer.

“If they were willing to decapitate him I don’t see why it wouldn’t be.”
“Fucking hell.”

“The forensic team took a sample.”
The cries become louder.
“Someone get her out of her.”
“On it.”
“Eat the rich.”
“Rousseau”
“What?”
“Jean Jacque-Rousseau. ”
A quisical glance.
“I-I majored in political philosophy.”
“You didn’t major in forensics?”
“Double major.”
“So what does it mean? Fuck rich people?”
“When the people have nothing to eat, they will eat the rich.”
“So this is about… inequality?”
“I… maybe?”
“This guy… Roo…”
“Rousseau.”
“Yeah. Rousseau. What’s his deal?”
“Uh, he was a philosopher of the enlightenment. Wrote during the French Revolution.”
“I guess that explains the decapitation.”

i've always thought it was funny that the left has no magnetic ideological death meme the way the right does, considering the fact that left-leaning academia literally came out of tenure-culture making the psycho thinkers (of the time) immune to getting fired.

i think a story like this would be neat if you could convince the reader that far-left groups did have something like that, which attracted individuals who were far left-leaning and socially isolated. instead of killing their friends, coworkers, whatever, they fixate on the rich, probably with some fun ironic stuff about gun rights in the US (some aspect of the assassination is embarrassing or shameful to gun proponents).

lets say they have 10 trillion dollars (they have more like 1.2, but lets say theyre hiding a lot more). so you take 10 trillion, well america spends about 5 trillion per year and the deficit is growing. the rest of the world spends a lot more than what you have left over, but say you stretch it thin. now its 2021 and you have no more billionaires and the same problems as before.

I don't think it's because American's don't care, I think they're just ushered towards arguing over abortion, gun control, and lobbying by the public discourse. But otherwise, I generally agree with your point. However a novella about a level headed political party emerging that actually used rationalism and empiricism to radically reform the American government isn't as deliciously salacious as a terrorist organisation taking a blunt force utilitarian approach to global inequity.
