I read books I like fast, if you mean how do you read fast. If I'm really enjoying it, I can usually finish a 250 page book in a day, but if it's something that I'm not enjoying, sort of a slog, it can take a few weeks. Happened with a lot of classics, it took me a month to read John Ciaridi's Inferno, but I read the catcher in the rye in one afternoon.

read books that are relevant to your own life at first, you'll already grasp a lot of the concepts in them. Afterward read books that expand on those ideas, or books that introduce new ideas that slot into the ones you've already grasped.

It's foolish for a literary (pseudo-) intellectual to read for the sake of reading. Literature should, at least in my opinion, enrich one's own life. Books are a powerful way of rapidly progressing the depth of your own ideas, by peering into the minds of more experienced people.
Alongside these books, you can indulge in more entertaining reads, solely to amuse yourself. But these shouldn't be at the top of your reading list if your goal is to develop specific ideas.

I get that, but it just made sense to me personally, so I shouldn't have worded my initial post as advice for other people... but still, it really clicked for me when I saw that. I've never been a big porn guy in my whole life, if I'm jacking it to a video it's some softcore-as-hell shit like gravure/modeling videos. Depends a lot on the writing, really. You can read a 300-page Dan Brown in under an hour because his text is so simple and streamlined. Meanwhile, it took me around three months to read a 150-page book by some classic author, because the text was so flowery and every sentence was the length of a paragraph. It took time to understand all the references and symbolism in the text, and I had take a break after each chapter to digest the contents.
