What are the best translations of any work into any language in the whole of literature?
Are there any translations worth reading over the original to a fluent reader of both languages?
Are there any cases where one should read a book in a language that is neither the original nor the reader's mother tongue?
Are Schlegel's translations of Shakespeare worth reading for a native English speaker?

By reading excellent translations, you're reading the translator's perspective of the oeuvre, which is what makes that translation good.

Traidore traduttore, or something like that says the italian phrase.

Also Borges said something among the lines of: 'Translations are like women: If it's pretty it's not loyal, and if it's not loyal, it's not pretty' or some shit like that.
Nigga just read in the original, and if you're a brainlet, seek the most loyal translators and that's it fgt.
bye lmao
