There is not 1 book in Spanish that is worth reading in the original language. I have studied Spanish for 5 years but don't even bother reading anything since all the fiction is either fairy-tale-tier magical realism or ripped off French literature. All Spanish language philosophers, especially from South America, seem to be dime a dozen Marxists with no originality. The Conservatives like Donoso Cortes are just rip offs of French conservatives like De Maistre. The religious writing is just bourgeois sentimentalism that, once again, lacks any distinct originality.
Is there really anything worth reading in Spanish?

His only work that could be classified as magical realism is Universal History of Infamy, which was his first collection, and even then it's enjoyable to read. You have no understanding of Borges, I see.

Why do you think English speakers don't fucking bother reading Spanish novels and academic works? Because they know very well that they cannot do anything original.

You fucked yourself up, OP.
But hey, at least you will be able to live somewhere in Ecuador if the U.S. collapses due to the greedy businessmen outsourcing absolutely everything.
