Why does /lit/ LARP as Christians? No one here lives by the Bible, or leads the life God wanted Man to lead. The last time you went to church was Sunday school when you were 7 years old. Stop being contrarians.

Have you considered that maybe these people are exactly as you've described, but that they've become weary with the life they currently lead and may be curious about learning more about Christianity, and other systems of belief? There are a lot of jaded Millennials and Zoomers out there looking for meaning in life.

Christians are really the only major religion that claims a complete monopoly over truth and divinity.
All other religions are at least tolerant of other beliefs, even Islam believes there are more paths than the quaran to reach god. But Christianity is literally you follow our method of Jesus Christ or you go straight to Hell. There’s no room for playing, no room for wrong think, no room for questioning. Your way of seing god is wrong, our way of seeing god is right and because you disagree you’re gonna be punished eternally for it.
This believe pulls in a lot of weak minded individuals who hear this and run to the shelter of Christianity out of fear. They don’t necessarily believe this idea but they don’t want to deal with the possibility of being wrong about it so the take the safest option.

Christianity is like a special cult where it’s the whole world against you, look at /pol/ or religious youtubers it’s always some battle of Christians vs the rest of the world. Everyone is always deceived and only the flock are those who know the way.
Basically it attracts a lot of the 4chan user type, edgy solipsists who need reality to be some grand opera where they are lead members of the show.
I love Christ and his teachings but could never consider myself a Christian

Uh, Anon, that's kind of the point, isn't it?

All these other religions' ability to coexist with each other seems like a weakness, not a strength. It's ultimately a betrayal of their claim to be the preferred way to salvation. But Christianity continues to maintain that everyone who doesn't believe in Jesus is doomed. Because this is true. Because Christians really believe that their way is the Truth.

Anon, Anon, if you had truly experienced Christianity you would't say this. There is NOTHING like the true experience of Christianity. It's a thing worth dying over, a thing worth sacrificing your life over. Jesus Christ is the greatest thing you could ever hope to encounter in this life. Jesus is amazing! And we encounter Him every day we choose, through the Sacraments that His Church offers every single day. We double down on Christ because there's nothing like Him in this world or the next. My God, Christ is incredible. If you have sought something all your life, I promise you you will find it in Christ. I promise you, Christ is the end goal of everything you have sought. You should not be afraid to embrace Christ as the summit of all your desires.

The idea that "Christianity" is a monolith is pretty redundant, especially when such a big part of the acceptance of or coexistence with other faiths depends on the particular church and varies from denomination to denomination. Not to mention the incalculable number of cultural christians who, while not necessarily identifying with the congregation, still (consciously or unconsciously) act according to the teachings of Christ. It's worth looking into the idea of post-modern theology to help explain why the current pope is putting forward a far more tolerant form of Christianity. God dies on the cross through the mortality of his own son, but what lives on as His afterlife is the holy spirit of community. Therefore its less a question of following Christ's teachings to the line, than it is about engaging in the spirit of community which Christ leaves to us in his absence

>Denying Christ
>I love his teachings
I hope that's what's played over and over again through especially hellish phonic cannons affixed to your eternally damned skull every morning, or on the hour, however Hell does time for you people. If you had any sense of Christianity, any barely nascent overview of its patterns, its traditions, its varieties of practice, the multitudes it has persuaded and won over by highly compelling ideas, you would not have made that post. I think you live and type in a state of profound poverty and it has begun rotting you to the point you no longer sense error because you have become it. You relish it as a tanager in a bath. Jesus Christ spoke in profound parables and was often mysterious, leaving you the Christian to discover your Agape and deduce your course from that. This is not to say there were not clear blockages of bad human behaviors professed by Christ, who notably demonstrated prostitutes and tax collectors were very much in his flock, just as he also fashioned a whip from cords and drove all the crass and profane predators out of a place intended for sacred worship. Christ demonstrated a level of moral development that remains fascinating to merely think through as an exercise, let alone devotionally. No one "runs to Christianity out of fear" nor is anyone credible who supposes there's even a detectable trait we could term "weak minded," the very notion serving as a giant blinking klaxon above your post announcing to everyone the scant limits of your cognition, the excruciatingly low ceiling of your imagination. What a thing to be so dumb! I should think you fully encompass your mind's capacity by a single sip of sugary soda, a neural hollow given over to odiousness and wretchedness. Returning to Christ, he lived and spoke of so many grand, inspiring principles, that people in many languages find his ideas impossible to shake. Through Christ you arrive at truths that become unassailable, unimpeachable insights into being not only a human being and acknowledging our suffering but also what we ought to do, even what we should tell ourselves in our worst moments. Most importantly, and you left this out curiously, having announced to everyone you're an expert on Christianity, but the Christian notion of forgiveness serves a broader and, you'll love this I'm sure, utilitarian function, serving to repair people, families and communities that might otherwise spiral into destructive patterns. Of all Christ's teachings and truth and wit, the notion of forgiving is a powerful one. I do not think it applies to you, rentboy. You speak ill of ideas you do not even fathom. You are not even wrong. You are a waste.

If it feels like a lie, it is because you are lying when you say it. Next time you say it, do not consider it a lie. Before you go to confession, contemplate what it would mean for you to not sin again. It is not about being perfect yet, but about improving. It is always possible that you never sin again. Wouldn't that be wonderful? If there were even a hope of that happening, would you drag your feet, or would you run to the arms of God? There is enough ambiguity and room for interpretation in the New Testament. And we don't even have to get into the fact that you could call Christ your Lord & savior without e.g. accepting the Pauline epistles or Revelations as canon.
