>choosing book to impress girls

Wrong strategy, wrong outlook OP. You should be passionate, assertive and articulate enough about your tastes that girl will strive to impress you with their reading choices.

Remember the london poster who made greentext stories about an oblivious misogynist bookworn that keeps getting hit on by girls and doesn't get a clue ?

The women keep talking about the book he's read to get approval (and dick) from him, but he never picks it up.

That's the situation you want except you *should* pick it up.

I realized that I am simply afraid to show my interest and I don't assume my desires. I don't want to be seen flirting nor do I want someone to know that I am attracted and pursuing her. I simply can't assume that. If I stop masturbating, I get a tiny more natural, I don't purposefully avoid looking in the eyes and I socially ease up a little. But I gradually get this constant tension boiling inside, I see some anxiety and tension in me. So far I can't find a balance. And I wasn't the kind to Masturbate 3 times a day.

I thought about it, I think it comes to what you think you deserve and how you think of yourself.
I tend to be someone very insecure who still think highly of himself. Doesn't make me more confident, quite the opposite.

Someone confident isn't afraid to go after what he wants, and that's not because he's an "asshole" or because "wymen like Chads" that's because they think or feel that they deserve that thing, and by sheer belief or will they are able to communicate that.

In the case of a woman, you have to convince her that she wants you. She doesn't like you, it's just a trick you pulled off because you knew you deserved her.

It really is mindset. You can be attractive, but unless you are in the top 10% of attractiveness, being autistic/awkward will make pussy dry.

Anyone else have the sudden realization that the whole woman thing is a rigged game and playing it is optional?

I felt like I always knew this but only in the past year or so have I really, truly understood it. The a priori assumption that women matter, and women's judgements matter, is fucking insane. Let alone in this era when women are the most judgemental, narcissistic, and outright deranged in their entitlement that they've ever been in history. If you want to fuck a woman and you consciously decide to wade through this bullshit, that's fine, but 99% of guys just take for granted that it objectively matters, in some cosmic way, how women judge them.

Again, there's nothing wrong with resigning yourself to dealing with the BS because you need pussy, if you actually make that decision intentionally. The problem is that everybody just takes for granted that CONFIDENCE = "what women think confidence is," or the kind of confidence that woos a woman. Or charm. Or simply being interesting in general. Women have incredibly skewed, shallow perspectives of all of these things, but men take up those perspectives as if they are the default, normal perspective of society in general. Then they get stuck in an endless cycle of defining themselves according to those values but always coming up short, because let's face it, they're an average-looking guy and it's ALWAYS going to be a bit of a hail mary for them to impress a attractive girl.

All this is socially contingent. Of course in the age of sexual lib and Tinder orgy-porgy, when women can consequencelessly be courted and fucked by any guy they want, they're going to pick the best-looking, naturally most charming and outgoing guys. And of course they're going to turn around to the other 85% of the male population, of doughy short ordinary men, and say "just try a little harder! Impress me by being an astronaut and making me laugh!" when they're a basic bitch who works at Wendy's and who has never made anybody laugh, ever. That I understand. I just don't understand why men fail to note that this is an extreme and localized phenomenon, not the norm or default.

It's as if men could fuck any woman they wanted, so they naturally only elected to fuck the top 20% of genetically fortunate beautiful women, and told the lower 80% of women "gee, can't you try harder? Learn makeup contouring and modify your body and you can earn my dick!" And then the average.ugly women all took this at face value, as if their life has to revolve around this sick lopsided system.

Someone like me shouldn't be that much of a recluse to be honest. I simply can't open up and engage in the moment. I am perfectly aware they are not out of reach. I don't tell myself I am too ugly or too dumb for this kind of thing, fuck I moved on from my /r9k/ period years ago.

In the case of the girl I mentioned. If I met her outside of her work, I would probably have tried something after seeing her a few times.

It's impossible to think your way into confidence, action is necessary. And you can't just say "One day it'll happen", you need to accept responsibility and agency. If you want to get better at attracting women, then interact with them and be willing to make mistakes and learn.

Personally I'm also of the opinion that it's better to admit to one's flaws and insecurities in that kind of interaction, as opposed to trying to hide them and failing. Honesty is disarming and allows you to stand out, which is the most important thing.

But my experience is extremely narrow and limited so I could be totally off base on that last part. The first part, though, is a general principle which holds true for anything you want to accomplish.

The more you face that fear, the more it'll dissipate. The human mind acclimates very quickly to both good and bad, which is why everyone feels dissatisfied but the only people who feel bad enough to kill themselves are the ones whose minds are fucked up on a biochemical level. So use that to your advantage and you'll become more comfortable in those situations in addition to gaining a lot of self-knowledge.

>>13056519
I think the same thing applies there, your brain forms its opinion of your status as a person based on experiences, and the only way to give it good experiences to work with is through concrete action. Of course there are things that you can't do anything about, e.g. if you're deformed you'll never feel good about how you look, but superficial things like looks and social status shouldn't be the main concern of a person with serious intellectual interests. If you lack the mental capacity to pursue those interests, that's another issue, but you have to consistently test yourself in order to know what you're capable of.

Any book that improves your vocabulary and/or the way you speak. Ideally, read Hemingway short stories and learn how to tell things that happened in your life in that style.

Also, I use this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w82a1FT5o88

in combination with Don Quixote. You know how every chapter starts with something like "Where we tell the story how our knight Don Quixote did this and that". I would start the conversation with "Do you want to hear the story where [this and that] happened to me?", turns out, as stated in the video, people love to hear stories. I would even tell how the damn story ends in the introduction and people would still listen.

You guys are thinking in a too much straight forward way. Forming a connection with the other person directly through an artistic medium is lazy. Who gives a shit what she reads. Kick that 4chan elitism out of your head and have some fucking fun.

I have a decent amount of dissident right wing material. Thankfully I'm already married and my wife more or less agrees with basically everything important about fascism (even though funnily enough she certainly doesn't see her views as being ones that are fascist and would likely be disgusted that someone would suggest that she is fascistic). Generally speaking any random college girl is going to see Mein Kempf (even if you have surrounded it with material directly critical of national socialism etc.) and be immediately confused as to why you would ever read something so transgressive.

Really though, women's opinions on literature/philosophy/politics are basically irrelevant, and if you're trying to impress girls with your books, you're going to find yourself not having much success.

I am a hollow man. I really don't care about anything anymore other than getting a gf and I'm starting to lose interest in that. I have no personality, no sense of self. I'm unattractive, boyish, inarticulate, incompetent, awkward and boring. There isn't a single reason a woman would want to be with me and I can't see a single reason to live without having a gf first. It has become the lynchpin of my existence - a monomania that, once removed, leaves only a vacuum.

I have tried to change. I've walked down so many different paths. I've had more late night epiphanies than you could know. But morning always comes and I, leashed by elastic, snap back to wretched comfort of my usual self - or am flung back there by an indifferent universe.

I feel I will be chasing this white whale for a long time to come.

Most cool women will love literally any book on your shelf because they like men that read with maybe the exception of multiple books with swatikas on them. That might even be ok if you have massed many books as it can be seen as scholarly. The next degree of separation of that is easily Bukowski, the next lower level of woman will be upset about him as he’s the most popular and visible author that’s a no-no for girls. After that it’s Lolita, but oddly most thots that hate Bukowski also LOVE Lolita because they all have daddy complexes and have rarely had men in their circles that will obliterate their vaginas like they secretly desire as they cry themselves to sleep at night. Then there’s the final and worst level of woman; the educated one who reads buzz articles and thins David Foster Wallace is a nazi and Hemingway should be banned. These women despise the western canon generally and you should avoid them at all costs, and if you absolutely must deal with them break their spirits as much as possible before they wrote you off.

Congressladies dimpled cheeks aflutter
Squeezing braapers with noisome sputters
No tourists can reach those hallowed commodes
Reserved for elected chicks by city codes
All throughout the long legislative day
Privy eliminations plummet away
Hissed expulsions of peristaltic logs
Thundrous flushings each the ivory bogs
Emictions lively, fading to sprinkles
Anal apertures wrench shut their wrinkles
Rarest toilet shows shone therein that Room
Unless a lense is choked by rectal spume
Until that powerful flush does banish
Floaters and sinkers, marbles to ghanoush
Twelve sharp cameras arranged in a ring
Peak seamlessly the slop their bottoms sling
Multitasking muted phones as they spurt
If ever they speak, those Reps are quite curt
Scanning screens for new eclipsing tushes
Its a fine way to spy varied bushes
Mellifluous messes loosed from sphincters
Rippled cadences by brown eyes' blinkers
Reps and Senators, those lobbyists too
All hunker their hineys to dump some poo
Why yesterday there's that Wasserman-Schultz
Profaning from expulsionary jolts
No bashful ejecter is Rep. Pelosi
She never strains, her bowels most cozy
Even AOC voids, her stools likes masts
Resisting livestreaming to lower castes
Woe to girls following Maxine Waters
Fecal patterns sprayed from plie squatters

Sexual Politics by Kate Millet.

>> No.13068432

>>13067729
The problem with modern feminist writing is that they treat women like 'Mary Sues', as if no women have ANY accountability for their actions whatsoever.
The irony is that modern day feminism is practically a new, worse Catholicism, where women read about how it's not their fault and that their sins are the fault of other people, then feel good.
None perhaps maybe, Paglia or Ariel Levy, properly take aim at the most poignant discussion to be had, which is why feminism has clear deserters and that the male gaze is really just womens' solipsistic reframing of their bodies as sexual tools to be used around men.
If women didn't have leverage over sex, they would be absolutely have zero agency in the world. Which is why it is absurd for feminism to expect them to drop it.
The very fact that modern feminism doesn't even readily acknowledge male individuals as the Other party, is proof of it's complete disarray.

All phil major girls are at least 7/10 qts if not 9/10 refined ladies where I live. But I agree that girls "who read" (which mostly means girls who read genrefic) are mostly ugly.

Having read The Iliad or The Bible doesn’t make you smart, you’d still get bodied in a conversation with anyone actually smarter than you, so drop the pretense that you’re superior. I think my experiences with other literary-minded people is different than most people here. The three people who come to mind as most having impressed me whom I know personally when it come to
books are all women (though they also make up the majority of illitetati I know as well, granted).

My former English teacher is a conservative Catholic who loves Poe, Emerson, Hemingway and Shakespeare, and laments the idiotic curriculum she is now forced to teach in her new school, a place where she also has to hide her political opinions (ostracized by her coworkers during the government shutdown when she revealed to them her husband - a border patrol officer) agreed with Trump. They went from sympathetic to callous reeeaaaaal fast about his lack of income for a couple weeks. Good to know leftist sympathy is predicated on whether or not you agree with them politically.

Friend's fiance is highly literate. She gave me a couple of Mein Kampf she found in a book store in India, after reading it herself.

Girl I met at a convention had the best personal library of anyone I've met and could talk about obscure philosophy shit she'd read like Vollman.

You're being facetious, but the Weimar Republic was defined by two things: degeneracy unto literal madness, and being economically fucked. If you're not seeing the pattern here I don't know what to tell you. One of the things the Nazis did immediately after the Anschluss was shut down the center for tranny Wissenschaft in Vienna. A lot of people don't realize that was something they even needed to do, that such a center existed in the Thirties.

They didn't want to pay for the German imperial government's warmongering so they fucked themselves to avoid having to repay for Versaiilles. Then the global great depression happened. """Degeneracy""" is a smokescreen and a retarded rationalization for barbarous busybody moralizing (by a group that industrialized genocide and liquidation of peoples, rich I know).
>A lot of people don't realize that was something they even needed to do
They didn't NEED to do it, they wanted to. People being weird, even when it comes to sexuality isn't as big a deal as you think it is, it's not an existential threat, or even affects you personally at all. Just fucking ignore them. Or are you going to say something about how trans people existing will destroy civilization.

Most of the girls I come across at my university that are English majors don't actually read anything of substance; instead they read YA. Once this girl was bragging in class about the proof copy she recieved of the hate you give. Furthermore, they refuse to read any books written by "old white men" because feminism or some other stupid excuse. They can't actually have a conversation about what they disliked about the book, only that an old white man wrote it and it is therefore evil.

Overall, it doesn't matter what girls think about your bookshelf. If they see that you read anything at all they'll immediately be interested. Or they will try to shame for not having any non-cisgender people of color on your bookshelf. In that case, dump them.

Even if it's a weird stranger nerd guy (what most of you are to random girls) reading it in public, they probably just will not care. If you get into a loud argument with an SJW over it on the subway then back down, they'll probably be uninterested in you for being a loser but that's it.

bookthots who try to be fashionable and impress with their reading choices will scoff but whatever they are usually lame.

I relate to what you're saying very much. What helped me was a running a retail business during my student years. Being forced into breaking the ice socially dozens of times a day forced me to have pleasant interactions with strangers who always wanted me to open up to them and be playful. It was a bit at first, a song and dance, but I eventually I started slipping more and more of myself in these interactions. Polarizing things, like my opinions, thoughts on events and interests started coming up with regular customers without a second thought and it caused others to do the same, universally. It stopped becoming a song and dance and started to genuinely feel like an expression, like making music. It wasn't for the other's appraisal, it was for the act in and of itself. The thought I'd never talk to most of these people again was my true liberator, I think. It never happened at any one point, but took almost a full year of doing this regularly, like a discipline.

Until that point it was just drudgery. But it carried over into all my relationships and made them more enjoyable because I can put myself out there just for the sake of putting myself out there. People detect authenticity. It really is as simple as grinding a skill, like practicing piano, being socially authentic.

I'm going to get shit for posting self-help here, but try "How to Win Friends and Influence People". We all have commonalities, even the most different of us, and almost everyone desperately wants to connect with someone.

As far as I can analyze myself: it comes from both a desire to become more wise and my frustration towards a "modern American life" being a life I do not want to live.
The more I've studied scripture and philosophy the greater my woe has become; I realized the repression I will endure if I continue down the path that has been set for me from birth.

Just as guys don't go after fat whales who read certain books, the same applies for women in search of men. It is attractiveness (face, body), followed by charisma, followed by whatever the zeitgeist is of what is or is not okay to say or believe, but then again there are women who will put up with most things so long as they find you attractive (again: body & face) followed by charisma.

It doesn't work in any other way, you can't talk your way magically into some girl's pants if you are ugly, you can't play the right music to get into some girl's pants, you can't show off a book, a game, a TV show, cinematography, instrument, etc. the only possibility is money but those attracted to that alone and don't find you handsome will look elsewhere for something to satiate their lust.

The world isn't complex, you keep hearing people are but in reality it's just the functioning of the brain that is complex, people are unbelievably and depressingly simple as is this world and everything in it.

You can get anywhere in life with time + effort, just as you can get women based on how attractive your body and face is and how sociable you are or rather how charismatic, which unlike your body or face is just a skill, consider this: psychopaths lack empathy, so they are forced to mimic, research how they're supposed to act, these people go out and analyze people constantly in order to exist, if you are bad at socializing it's just because you're not analyzing people and their mannerisms and actions, and just like any other skill you just have to pay attention and keep at it until you've mastered it.

There is no shortcut to anything in life: time + effort.

I know two and only two dudes who have read decent books: my friend who is a sailor on masted ships and my friend who is a trail conservationist for Americorps. In their downtime from their manly physical jobs, they will read decent novels (sailor: Conrad, Melville; conserv.: McCarthy, stuff I'll recommend him). But neither read as much as I do.

The next two after that are my buddy who reads non-mainstream sci-fi/fantasy and my friend's fiance who thinks Confederacy of Dunces is the greatest novel ever written. Those are my Top 4 Male Readers that currently come to mind (and I'm the anon you replied to).
