Ok look the books from him that should interest You the most are Ride the Tiger, Men amongst the Ruins. He was an inside-critic of both Mussolini and Hitler and continued to be after the war.
He believed in the Eternal Tradition. You might want to also read Guenon to understand the details. To be absolutely short and reductive he was a pre-enlightment thinker, in that the basys of his thought is not in any modernist ideology or philosophy. Fascismo to him was a mean to the end of preserving the Eternal Tradition and his Theory of Races (a pretty secondary part of his thought) is more based on the Spiritual difference than one race and another than to the physical.
More than anything We could say that like Guenon he opposed the "Theology of Progress".
Here I gave You some tidbits, now It's up to You to walk down This road.

...just kind of glommed onto fascism as the closest thing to his particular right-wing ideals. Evola wasn't a fascist, and he wasn't a national socialist, he was a reactionary and his ideas for a "true right" (as opposed to what he disdained, rightists copying tactics from the left) reflect this.

If you’re studying esotericism you want to think about what you’re actually interested in.

You can for example study Neoplatonism and other Greek thought. Plotinus and proclus are great. Or if you want into the modern occult scene you’ll need to study some hermeticism like in the corpus hermeticum. If you want really modern stuff you’ll need to familiarize yourself with liber ABA, if you want certain forms of paganism relevant texts are easy enough to find as long as its mostly Roman and Greek material you want. If you want abrahamic material study Jewish Kabbalah and proper Rosicrucianism, I recommend aryeh Kaplan for your introduction to kabbalah and as for Rosicrucianism study of a bit of all of the above and some general alchemical texts then read Jacob Bohme.

There’s a lot to western occultism and if you want eastern esotericism that is itself another very massive nuanced field.

pretty cool guy, got a reputation in italy for making contrarian shitposts against the fascist bureaucracy and the vatican, and when he persisted after being censored multiple times he ended up being taken very seriously by authorities too dumb to understand him. mussolini thought he was a literal magician and was deeply afraid of him, but ended up being influenced by his views on the "spiritual race". the national socialists were cautiously interested in his ideas but kept him on a very short leash.
all of his books are good.

Jewish Kabbalah, Rosicrucianism, tantra, hermeticism proper, thelema, Spare and once all of these are understood in context Kenneth grant and Michael bertiaux’s works.

But really it’s all very very interestingly and fascinating stuff. When I first read Michael and Kenneth grant I thought they were absolutely insane until I understood the context of chaos magic and spare and the context of those through Crowley and broader hermeticism.

They’re all incredibly nuanced philosophies that can hook into each other just as much as you want and give you ample room to have creativity within them. You can be as religious and dogmatic or as rejecting of such as one desires, as rigid or chaotic, meta or sincere, there’s just so much material that it depends entirely on your tastes. You won’t run out of material to read, at least in my experience.

Hermetic Kabbalah is garbage, hermeticism is good but they ruin it. Try reading some of aryeh kaplan’s work (his book on meditation or his book on the sepher yetzirah and most important his book inner space will really change your conception of Kabbalah)

If you don’t want Kabbalah though that’s fine, just study spare (book of pleasure, zoetic grimoire and so on.) he gives you the tools to make your own model and consume other models if you read him properly and he’s actually although people don’t know this rooted in Agrippa.

After or Hell, before if you want primer study some chaos magic like liber Null.

Kabbalah is an eidetic science in my opinion, it can be replaced if you please.

Seems hard to jump into to be honest. I've read a bit of the meme duo on here and I suppose it was a bit intriguing but I didn't know how to make sense of it.

is there like a particular text you would rec as some kind of intro, can I just download the Jewish Kabbalah and try to understand it? ty for responses

>> No.13051494

>>13051464

Inner space then sepher yetzirah are probably the best primers, basically just read the material by aryeh Kaplan and you’re gonna know more about proper Kabbalah than 90% of hermetic occultists.

Its really really good material but hermeticism likes to overcomplicate material because of aesthetic more or less.

A lot of the problems of modern occultism and occultists in my opinion is addiction to aesthetics corrupting their intellectual model, which is fine if they’re consciously aware of it but they often aren’t.

I’m bias here, I recommend a shivaite and Zen approach.

Shiva Sutras, the work of abhinavagupta and so on and so forth. Definitely begin with the shiva sutras shiva samhita and abhinavagupta’s commentary on the Gita.

As for Zen, look into the life of master linji and study Benkai, his idea of the unborn is lovely.

If you want Taoism that’s more complicated, obviously than the Tao te ching is nice but you’re gonna wanna study zhangzi for the hardcore philosophical elements and Ge Hong For the proper occult elements. If you can find any material on the baopuzi or daozang I recommend it heavily.

As for Shinto, seems mostly a no-man’s land because its so land locked and isn’t translated enough.

As for other forms of Buddhism, there’s a load of material on Theravada and Mahayana and these are usually much more exoteric in character. They do have esoteric aspects but I find their esoteric levels inferior to vajrayana which is a synthesis of Mahayana Buddhism with Tantra and that is itself a massive tradition.

All in all though I still say the height of eastern clarity is found in linji and abhinavagupta

That’s what they claim but not fully.

The tantraloka claims one can initiate into Hindu tantra via use of raktadevi/Raktakali as use of her mantra and the like daily eventually causes visions of her along with dream.

Similar procedure is possible and done also in Buddhist tantra using Vajrayogini, for this purpose you should study their forms of dream control (Tibetan yogas of dream and sleep.)

If you can directly communicate with vajrayogini in dream that is initiation for vajrayana. Short of direct deity interaction you probably will need a teacher. Unless you supplement Buddhist tantra with Hindu tantra anyways.

Theres book on both which spill decent amounts of secrets.

As both a /pol/ack and someone who actually reads, I can bet money that there's not one worthwhile post in this entire thread before even reading it. But to answer your question. Evola was a Traditionalist. This is a religious field more so than political. Although, he (not necessarily all Traditionalists) does come with heavy ramifications on political issues, and does have political writings. You can probably get the gist of him by reading the Wikipedia article on the Perennial Philosophy, and imagining him as a caricature of your average Traditionalist. If you want to go a bit deeper, without committing, then read the Essential Guenon, and you'll have a decent understanding of the Perennial Philosophy. If you actually want to read him then see pic related.

He's most appealing to the Third-Position because he didn't convert to Semitic Islam. (Guenon, Schuon, etc were all Sufis; to this day you have people like Nasr) He was also politically active, while Guenon - himself a critic of democracy and communism - felt that you should just wait the yuga out. This is where you start seeing the split between Guenon and your run of the mill Traditionalists and Evola. Evola puts emphasis on Heroism. He sees value in fighting, in war. I think it's in Revolt Against the Modern World where he says that not everyone has an immortal soul, and that "Traditionally" it was reserved for Heroes - Greek demigods for instance, while the average person became Manes. This is quite the attack on traditional Traditionalism, and especially on those who adopted Abrahamic religions. You can almost compare Guenon and Evola as archetypes of the Brahmin and Kshatriya. One perfectly content penning himself up in his house, attending ceremonies, hiding out of fear of black magic. The other, action oriented, and ready to wage the outer Jihad.
