Just started reading Gilgamesh. Is it just me, or is Gilgamesh a really cartoonish character? The description of him is kind of like HE'S BEEN EVERYWHERE. HIS BEARD IS THICK. HIS LEGS MASSIVE. HE FIGHTS ALL THE YOUNG MEN. HE GETS ALL THE WOMEN. And I also like the part where the townspeople are really annoyed at him for getting all the women and fighting all the men, and so they ask god to create a second Gilgamesh to fight him so he'll go away.

They plead the gods to send a man-beast called Enkidu to be his rival, and then apparently they become best buds but he's still an uncivilized so the solution is for him to have sex with a temple prostitute for a week. It's hard to take the tale seriously just roll with it
