alright /lit/ my friend is a fat fuck, who eats trash and plays video games all day. He does this because he is lazy and because he is a self-identified nihilist baby, so he doesn't see the point of anything.

Any works of literature or normal books (classic or contemporary) that you guys would recommend to him? I want to get something for his birthday, hopefully, to undo this enchantment.

In reality, you aren't going to give him anything that will achieve what you want for him. You can't expect a person that cares nothing about their life to read a recommended book.
You literally cannot change a person, change comes from within.
Moreover, you're asking for a book to fix a symptom within his life.
Even if he were to read a book you gave to him, and it were somehow exactly the book he needed to reverse the way he thinks, he would still need to act on changing his life; it's very unlikely he doesn't know what he needs to do to improve either way.
You should always have the best interests for your friends, but it sounds like you don't actually like this person. Either accept him for who he is or abandon him.

He is in a dead sprint from bad feelings. The only salvation is good feelings, and he's found everything he needs to permanently get rid of all those bad feelings and nasty thoughts. Get him to face hell, the man in the mirror. Convince him that he is staring into heaven if he doesn't fix his shit starting right now. Get him to understand he will look to that instant as the one that changed his life.

Fucker never worked hard for a damn thing. Put his face to the coals and blast that fucker as long and as hot as it takes for him to fight for his life back. If I didn't have a literal chad sit down and talk to me in the coffee shop that day, I would still be that man you see before you, but only worse.

And he will be a fucking slave until the day that he decides to Lord over himself. you have to make being a slave hell for him. Being a slave is rewarding now, make it hell burning so deep he can't remove that smoldering charcoal from his flesh. Make him become his own master. This was what N failed to realize before insanity, masters make masters through slaves. I chose to reply instead of dismissing you for a reason. I worshipped myself the master as I was quintessentially the slave. It's another comfort to distract from the dread that is nihilism. Nothing comes of this life or any, but you have done nothing in the transition to make it better.

the magic of nihilism is that a pheonix once again engilfed in flames rises again from the ashes.

if he is true nihilist then he has come to the great noble truth in the empherial nature of symbols and ideas.
get him some cool books on occultism.
suggest jung-man and his symbols
leary-9 circuit model of consciousness
robert anton wilson prometheus rising

tons of books on hacking, phreaking, social engineering, social psychology.

since semiotics is primarily taught in buisness marketing/advertising/PR i suggest getting some books on that.
Edward Bernays is the go to guy in advertising.

Maybe a book on decentralization, or understanding blockchain, crypto.

failing that look up some philosophers in phenomenology

also highly recommend a book on Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT)
or if you can find a book that slips a bunch of that shit in.

failing that just look up the iron pill and berate him for being a failed nihilist as he has not transcended his habits to become an ubermensch.
he says he's a nihilist but he seems to have some pretty solid and concrete habits that he justifies with reasons that make absolutly perfect sense to him.
he isnt a nihilist, he is defeated by it.

not op, but thats what he is. if he is being lazy and gluttonous then he is hedonistic already.
the fact that he labels himself a nihilist is merely his cognitive dissonance between his lifestyle and how he views the world.
i.e. he says hes a nihilist becuase it was a reaction to justify his shitty choices so he doesnt have to feel guilty for 'not living up to expectations' that now that he's heard about nihilism is all arbitrary anyways.
i.e. a huge fuckin cope.

if you want to change his views on nihilism and you are so concerned, recommend trying to let him see the value in you.
then with help he can see and accept value in everything. be a good friend to him, hangout with him. dont judge him for the choices he makes, just always make sure that he has a different option and doesnt have to take that path if he so chooses.

invite him to join you for dinner that you cooked,

It's the view that one or more categories of life are empty of meaning. But, I agree that Nietzsche isn't an "antidote" for it. Nietzsche could definitely assist you in overcoming it, but he isn't going to overcome it for you. He himself did overcome it, however.
