The irrelevant metaphors thing is simply wrong. Deleuze, Foucault, Lyotard etc regularly refer to Christianity, modernity, Marx, and other major historical touch-points to make their various arguments, which commonly have to do with understanding the world today, in some political/philosophical sense. I can see how they might seem irrelevant to some dim bulb, though.

Big fancy words like "homologous" and "deterritorialization" are clearly not undefined. Rather, they are coined/employed by their authors and translators in order to suggest various themes.

Authors associated with the label "postmodernism" have written several short works (pick up any Foucault book, anything French out of the Semiotext(e) intervention series, or for that matter the seminal Postmodern Condition of Lyotard), in addition to the obvious big stuff (D&G's Capitalism and Schizophrenia). So "postmodernism" does not necessitate huge books. Rather, the vocabulary is so taxing (the fair point) that the images' creator confuses it for long books.

Which brings us to the obscure vocab. This is the most fair point, and I concede it. For the last, "proofs" must be defined. It's true that the Frenchies love to blithely write "has shown, has demonstrated" while citing their source, but something something I'm exhausted and going to bed now.

>> No.12712272

Post-modernists create a world of their own out of vanity, it's intriguing, it invites the reader into thinking they must know what they are talking about, but it's a mystery box with nothing more than mystery boxes inside. They don't have answers to anything they just want a cult following because being a normal academic is extremely boring, you gotta make shit up, become famous and sell snake oil.

Are you going to tell me that putting the authors forward 70 pages into the pale king claiming the only fiction is the legal disclaimer that everything is fiction complete with DFWs trademark footnotes is postmodernism? The anecdotes and the barely sketching out what actually happens and the meta fiction and end notes in infinite jest aren't postmodernism? He couldn't escape it, and he realized that the cow eyed retards he described in his This Is Water speech were actually just cow eyed retards and he was a sham. He should have just written and lived in obscurity and not taken SSRIs. I guess at least he didn't go bonkers and shoot up like Wimbledon or a Boston halfway house but if he had it would have been epic bantz far surpassing Burroughs. What a pussy.
