He's right, in the sense that every religion that start out extreme always deradicalises to the point of being compatible with society. In that way religion has become too unimposing to even need to be shrugged off. Fundamentalists are often seen as insane for even attempting to be thoroughly pious and a small minority. Religion is generally too impotent to be angry about.
