Hi, I went to Middlebury with a major in English. I tried to make her read Nabokov but she just didn't get it. Lolita's my favorite novel. I wonder why that would be?

>Entry level
I can see why she keeps going back. Start a little easier maybe. Try typical entry level stuff like Catcher in the Rye or One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest for more modern stuff. If her YA interests are more romance based, you can’t go wrong with Austen or the Brontës. If you’re insistent on exposing her to pomo, try stuff like Slaughterhouse-Five. Don’t rush it.

That's adorable though, anon. Don't force her to liking what she doesn't like; let her express her soul as is authentic for her. If she likes YA the best, that's adorable and you should love her all the same for it.
