Reading Atlas Shrugged, and I've made my way through 200 pages, but considering I have 800 more to go, I wonder if I should. Despite it being a classic, I don't hear many people's opinions on it; I definitely think the relationships and writing is stellar.

Nichomachean Ethics. All of Aristtotles works read like a science book so be prepared to be bored to death yet continue on because the topics discussed are interesting and fruitful. He is extremely surgical, so I recommend Aristotle in small dosages to start you off. Good luck.

He should read The Organon first, don't you think?

Familiarize yourself with Plato and the presocratcs. Read commentators of his work in advance (ie. read articles about the ousía and the 'first techne' before starting on metaphysics, and so on)

Havent had the pleasure of reading that work yet, so I cannot answer your question. Perhaps you have a reason, as to why OP should start with the Organon, and why my suggestion is to ambitious.

If he wants to read one work of Aristotle, I agree it should be Nichomachean Ethics. If he wants to study Aristotle in depth, then I recommend the Organon since it lays the foundation for his whole system of thought.

Ah yes, I see clearly now anon. It is not enough to see the equations produce the program, we must also understand how we produced the equations. Perhaps I should treat myself in kind and read The Organon as well so that I may further my understanding of Aristotles system of thought. Thank you kind anon, I leave you with a gift. A (you). Enjoy your day.

I think you should start with Politics because it's more straightforward. Also, read Plato before because a lot of Aristotle is "Plato was wrong because"

Huh, not sure why Aristotle would be after Buddhism

Surely not all of it, but if he means science textbook as in dry, then I'd agree certain parts of Aristotle's corpus are very dry.

Most of Aristotle's surviving writings are lecture notes and research findings not meant for publication. All of his dialogues, which were highly praised, are lost to time.

>> No.12188777

yeah nichomachean ethics then de anima my dude, but dont just dive into him whole hog, make sure to read some bio stuff on him. for all its faults the wkc guthrie history of greek phil is an excellent introductory resource.

Gotta start with Plato, you'll see very clearly the evolution of ideas and also understand Aristotle's own foundation far better
