A question for Muslims

How can you deny Christ's crucifixion and death when it is said in Mark 15:37 that he died?

people who wrote the bible were not alive to witness the crucifixion.
>written by people who did not speak the original language, to another language.
>Humans lie to reach their end goal for small satisfaction.
>Muslims do not deny the crucifixion, they only deny that Jesus was crucified. It is known that he was replaced with another person. and Jesus ascended to haven waiting for the rapture to return.

Muslims believe that Jesus was never crucified because god made Judas to look exactly like Jesus so that he would be crucified in his place as punishment and that god took Jesus's soul and elevated him to heaven.

As a former muslim, I think I have some insight. Islam regards Jesus very respectfully, but views Christianity as the perversion of Jesus's teachings.

i'm not a Muslim, but it's really impossible to determine a concrete historical person to match the character of "Jesus"

there were dozens of people in Judea claiming to be the Messiah while preaching revolutionary ideas and conducting so-called miracles at the time Jesus was said to have been alive, and there is next to no evidence for the Jesus of the gospels representing any of those people

that being said, it wouldn't be unreasonable for an Abrahamic tradition not to accept that Jesus died on a cross, since our understanding of Jesus most likely comes from an amalgamation of messianic rumors to begin with

Christians were being fed to lions and burned on crucifixes at night by Nero so they could be used as a light source and seen as cannibals. Makes one wonder how small the satisfaction was since even I can't seem to see it.

The idea that Simon was the one crucified has already been refuted. Like, only gnostics believed that and even they had no proof but only believed it because it fit in to their idea that Christ had no physical body.

>> No.12112016

>>12111850
how was it refuted? where can you really find a description of Jesus beyond the gospels and apocryphal texts?

Simon being killed "instead of" Jesus is a metaphor. When you are being forced without realizing it and someone who does not force you brings it to your attention without forcing you, the anger in remembering that you're being needlessly forced is easily directed at him instead of at yourself and at that which forces you.

>Yes, they saw me; they punished me. It was another, their father, who drank the gall and the vinegar; it was not I. They struck me with the reed; it was another, Simon, who bore the cross on his shoulder. I was another upon Whom they placed the crown of thorns. But I was rejoicing in the height over all the wealth of the archons and the offspring of their error, of their empty glory. And I was laughing at their ignorance.

Muslims believe iin the tradition that Christ was elevated to heavens and someone else, there is a dispute in who though Judas is a common candidate, was crucified instead. God elevated Jesus while changed the appearance of the one being crucified to bear the resemblence of Jesus.

Description of Jesus has a funny history, both pagan and christian writers described him as an ugly s.o.b., pagans did this to attack him and Christians to elevate him and contrasting him by pointing out this ugly manlet is actually the lord.

This all changed with Augustine who delvded into ''god is perfect, christ is perfect thus he must look perfect'' cool aid, this became a trend in later on and Jesus get a more elegant appearance in Christian writings

There's something to be said for the lack of consistency in the accounts of Jesus' visage, and the insistence of the Gnostics not to associate him with a physical body. Like I said earlier, there were quite a few Jews around claiming to be the fulfillment of messianic prophecies. From an historical perspective, it isn't reasonable to assume messianism to be directly associated with one figure. Rather, the emergence of a messiah served as a message to the Jews that the prophesies of the Tanakh were fulfilled, and that Judaism could exist in spite of the chaos surrounding it. "Jesus" should instead be viewed as a Jungian symbol of the culmination of the old prophecies that allowed/allows Jews to worship without the abstraction of sacrifices at the Temple.
