Blogpost incoming: I recently started working a skilled trade/construction job after being out of work for several years and being incel/volcel during that time. I'm apparently making a decent hourly wage (relative to COL in my area), I have some friendly co-workers who I banter and socialize with casually on the job, and some of the work will help me get my flabby body back into acceptable shape. All that being said, my problem is as follows-- I've effectively been avoiding any kind of romantic/sexual/non-platonic interaction with women for so long that I'm genuinely fearful of getting back out in "the dating game". It's almost as if I've stunted/atrophied my psychological well-being to the point where I'm now incapable of mustering up the courage or confidence to pursue things I was (somewhat) comfortable with pursuing 5-6 years ago, whether it was a long-term relationship with a loyal qt cooking-and-baking gf or a casual fling with some buttslut off a dating app. Just working the trade for the past two days and knowing I'm making money is doing wonders for my self-esteem and yet I still have enough self-awareness to know that I don't think I'm 100% "ready" or confident to attempt to pursue anything with a woman again, whether it's a long-term relationship or just casual sex. I'm not extremely well-read, but not 100% dumb-blue-collar mode and bearing that in mind, my penultimate goal (as of now) is finding some kind of loyal gf/fiancee who I can have a mutually intellectually stimulating relationship with, who wouldn't mind dating a college dropout that works construction but still enjoys reading literature (both schlocky and stimulating).
