That's not been my experience at all. Some Canadian universities are setting up special cram schools to teach Chinese kids enough English to pass the IELTS/TOEFL. Most Chinese internationals have below average English skills or worse.

Ezra Pound has a lot to say about it. I really recommend you read the beginning of his book Guide to Kulcher. It’s a book on a ton of different subjects, but Confucius is the first one

The first chapter is a translation of part of the analects, and the second chapter is commentary on Confucianism
He also wrote translations of the main Confucian canon and odes, in addition his Cantos LII-LXI are called the “Chinese Cantos,” as they also concern Confucius and China
The basics of his ideas was that Confucianism ultimately worked and the West needed to develop a similar system

Westerners also fail to understand the mindset of the average Chinese. Chinese people tend to be indifferent to things that don't directly affect them/their daily lives, and on this point Id argue that the daily life of a person in China faces less interference from the government then the daily life of a person in America.
