I wish that all political discussion outside of /pol/ was banned like ponyposting outside of /mlp/ but I suppose the issue is that politics can bleed into so much, like film, literature, music, that sometimes you need to discuss the politics of a work in a way to analyse that work itself. It's a shame though because I get so tired of the race-baiting "grrr some black author won an obscure award while I win nothing procrastinating on 4chan" types of threads.

reading people parrot off political opinions is so fucking boring

reading people actually have philosophical debates can be very interesting though. dont really know where else to do that. and its very easy to jump in if you want, too. I think that is pretty cool.

I havent spent much time perusing that many of the other boards, but what little experience I've had in the other ones, they seems pretty fucking daft in comparison to some of the stuff I have read in /lit/
