I kinda wish Deleuze wasn't associated with Land. The latter might have a nice cyberpunk feel to him, but it doesn't make him any less bonkers. Deleuze got away with his annoying style, but nobody else should.

How to get into Nick Land? is there a chart or should I just read Fanged Noumena? is there any prerequisite reading from other authors/philosophers? I really like the schizophrenic cyberpunk aesthetic of shit like Serial Experiments Lain, Million Dollar Extreme, Jan Rankowski, NobodyTM, David Cronenberg movies, etc. but haven't really read many primary texts desu but I did read all of Ted Kaczynski's writings

Techno is Deleuzean. It’s heavily based on extreme repetition with subtle change, etc. Blake Butler is heavily influenced by Deleuze as well.
Two things that come to mind.

>> No.11733921

>>11733767
Just out of interest, how would you define Techno, I'm a fan myself, I'm just intrigued by how you would define it, I'd say post-disco minimalism with more of a focus on the robotic elements than other EDM types (bar glitch, which I think is closest to techno for that matter) but even then I'm left questioning myself.

>> No.11733953

"techno" is what people who aren't that familiar with electronic music refer to all electronic music as.

Deleuze himself kept talking about synthesizers in music, although it's a really weird point in his philosophy. It's like trying to get from Kantian syntheses to electronic music.

Yeah, more or less this. The stuff that was coming out of Detroit that first had the name “techno.”

>>11733953
You’re not wrong but my usage was deliberate. Techno, in its truest form, is very repetitious. Other electronic music genres are also repetitious but I feel that techno exemplifies the point well.

it's weird that techno is so inspired by deleuze when it seems to be so heavily focused on striated instead of smooth - pulsed rather than non-pulsed - time. deleuze seems ambivalent about Reich as a stylist here
https://www.webdeleuze.com/textes/5
but what Pinhas is talking about with Reich and funnily enough Fripp and Eno is very interesting, and it could apply to Indian music as well.

I can't give you name but in contemporary art it's still a good thing to make references to Deleuze, at least in France.

For music see Richard Pinhas
