>he's an anarcho-masochist creating a theme park for psychopaths...completely obsessed with malicious sorcery to cast spells on other members of the Social Sciences in an attempt to sicken or kill them in the hopes of magically stealing their possessions, especially their crops. Hopefully he’s wearing his magic underpants...

Arrogant child of two wealthy professors with no real talent. He's actually among the most hated authors here.
DFW is exemplifies that connections and wealth open more doors than actual talent. The only morons who unironically like DFW are those who incapable of forming opinions for themselves. Often professors suggest Infinite Jest to such impressionable minds, hailing DFW as some sort of "creative writing genius" and these students go home, look it up and read the esteemed opinions of book critics which reinforces their in their mind "this is is some good literature!". This is their thinking: '[seemingly] big brains like it ergo I like it ergo I'm a big brain!'.
You criticize the Infinite Jest or Saint Wallace, they go berserk. They cannot handle it so resort to ad hominems or appeals to their authority of having an undergraduate education.

Beloved for me = Orwell, Dickens, Thomas Hardy, Dumas. So many fond memories surrounding them and reading - devouring - their books in my more tender years, having my imagination jolted into distant realms, comforting me from the horrible tempests of my family life.

Sniffer of carrion, premature gravedigger, seeker of the nest of evil in the bosom of a good word, you, who sleep at our vigil and fast for our feast, you with your dislocated reason, have cutely foretold, a jophet in your own absence, by blind poring upon your many scalds and burns and blisters, impetiginous sore and pustules, by the auspices of that raven cloud, your shade, and by the auguries of rooks in parlament, death with every disaster, the dynamatisation of colleagues, the reducing of records to ashes, the levelling of all customs by blazes, the return of a lot of sweetempered gunpowdered didst unto dudst but it never stphruck your mudhead's obtundity (O hell, here comes our funeral! O pest, I'll miss the post!) that the more carrots you chop, the more turnips you slit, the more murphies you peel, the more onions you cry over, the more bullbeef you butch, the more mutton you crackerhack, the more potherbs you pound, the fiercer the fire and the longer your spoon and the harder you gruel with more grease to your elbow the merrier fumes your new Irish stew.
