He seems like a talented clinician and a powerful personality who has worked a lot of good in people's lives to give them self-direction. Many people have taken the same inspiration, or glimmers of it, from his lectures. I know people who watched him for a long time before he got popular (in 2016?) and who said he helped them.

He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and strong principles. I am grateful that he stood up for freedom of speech against the SJW crowd, especially the ones at the University of Toronto, which are particularly bad and aggressive. His mission seems to be to stop the waning, rabidly aggressive, and nearsighted left from further provoking huge amounts of young listless men to swing just as radically to the extreme right, so I respect him for having political foresight and the will to carry out his vision of proper civic engagement. He seems to be a mild paleoconservative at worst.

His work seems to draw heavily on the tradition of Campbell and Eliade, and while that might call for a deeper critique of neoliberal 'New Age-ism', that's an ideological and not an intellectual complaint. (That is, he'd probably contest the assumptions and not the execution of the critique.)

He seems OK. A demi-paleocon Campbell redux for a generation of men who are drifting to neofascism.

That's Peterson and everyone else who parrots his position in the way you yourself showed, truly a brutal inability to notice subtelties while being saintly convinced of your own right. But that's what people are like these days, having their egos and convictions amplified through the use of internet, not even realising they're idiots. No amount of "self-direction" is going to change that.

There's been a piece by one of his former colleagues who mentions that JBP was a popular professor, and as the recent history shows, this goes both ways as he's created both a seething opposition and a fanatical following. Mentioning the revolting students was purely a contrasting measure on my part: on one side you had Jordan Peterson and students shouting one slogan ("freedom of speech") and on the other you had the progressive students shouting another ("bigotry").
