>/tv/ only talks about shitty shows and capeshit
>/co/ only talks about the same cartoons and superhero comics
>/mu/ only talks about shitty indie stuff and rap
>/lit/ actually discusses great books and goes deep into literary arguments, even offering good recs, charts and content, despite the memes
How did /lit/ survive as the only worthy art appreciation board in the whole website?

books are the only material allowing real discussion.

Pat yourself on the back, OP. And everyone, let's give ourselves a great big round of applause!

You have to actually know the vocabulary used to describe things in order to enjoy a book.

Because literature demands a higher skill to get into it. Tv, music, comics, anime and all that shit only requires you to sit for half an hour mildly paying attention for it to entertain you, you could even leave them on the background (except for comics obviously) and then come up with a half assed superficial opinion on it to go shitpost. A book demands you to actually look at it and focus on it for a decent period of time for you to get anything out of it, weeding out the absolute braindead morons. Of course /lit/ has its problems and is sometimes extremely shitty but it never gets as bad as those other boards for this very reason.

Leftists and non-Westeners don't read.

Because it's a 'television' and film board. Television is a lesser medium, infatuated with pop culture. If they were separated, which they should have been long ago, I think the film board would have been somewhat worthy of visiting.

Can't comment.
>/mu/ only talks about shitty indie stuff and rap
/mu/ used to be very much elitist once upon a time, until it decided irony was king and music was a common accessory. A sincere work of art that just fell short can now be criticised with intensity, yet common garbage with minimal effort or craft involved could be praised on the logic of purpose i.e. 'it's supposed to hype you up bro! and it succeeds!!!'

/lilt/ somewhat works because it's not a particularly accessible hobby. It takes time to read, comprehend, understand. You can't just live by whims.

This unironically but, man, the quality of our Sekrit Klub suffered when our 2014 "Top 100" circulated on R*ddit.

/lit/ is actually one of the worst boards. The slow-paced nature of novels, in both their writing and release, makes them terrible for discussion on a fast-paced anonymous discussion board. If you spend more than a year on /lit/, you've been bamboozled and are a pseud.

Slow boards are far better than fast boards 100% of the time, you turbopleb.
