This is kind of how I feel. I generally try not to let his god awful fan base ruin how i think about him, but it can be hard. His advice isnt exactly groundbreaking but the fact that it resonates as strongly as it has suggests that hes touched on something important. His popularity might lead to somebody a lot smarter or more knowledgeable than him to come into the fold of popular thought and possibly expand upon what Peterson seems to be playing with.
Ultimately if he gets people who want to make themselves better people, I dont see a lot to worry about.
I've also found myself supporting him more whenever I see some poorly done article or protest claiming he believes in gay conversion therapy or some other outlandish mischaracterization of him. His lectures on the psychology of the bible are interesting to listen to as well.

Peterson is able to correctly identify a lot of modern problems such as the feeling of powerlessness of young men, and the problems with identity politics, but his critiques confuse causality and his solutions will only exacerbate matters.
