Dark Knight, Inception and Interstellar are the most obvious offenders. For whatever reason Nolan can't figure out how to tie up arcs and a have a proper lead up to the ending, so his third acts always start missing their own climax beats, and the movie just keeps going for an additional 30 to 40 minutes.

Are you referring to the Dark Knight trilogy to the Dark Knight itself? Because the latter had an exceptional ending

Whatever you say my dude. Nolan is essentialy is a clever editor that just happens to film the material he edits. His strength isn't his direction, it's editing, but you cant fix your narrative impotence in editing.

Third acts of Interstellar and TDKR in particular are just outright laughable in how poorly laid out they are.

It's like you forgot that Christopher Nolan is responsible for one of the most nonsensical and unintentionally comedic scenes in the history of contemporary cinema

It's not. It was inspired by Eisenstein apparently. It was basically a silent film where they attached IMAX cameras to WWII spitfires. It got critical acclaim but normies hated it for having little plot and for the characterization occurring almost exclusively through action rather than dialogue (dialogue is Nolan's weak point, which he's starting to get). Here's a good indication of what the movie's like:

He has good taste aesthetically, and rhythm isn't just the job of the editor but of the director as well. It's terms of middlebrow Hollywood directors I can't think of one with a better visual sense than he has. Maybe Iñárritu?

For me personally Nolan's greatest weakness is his also greatest strength - imitating Stanley Kubrick. He almost gets it, better than anyone else, but still just never arrives there completely.

Other than Interstellar how does he imitate Kubrick? They don't seem interested in the same aesthetic or themes at all.

Nolan constantly apes his blocking and framing for starters, fuck man, he even put the fucking Sterling Hayden clown mask from The Killing on the Joker in TDK to signal to everyone that KUBRICK WAS HERE.

>A person isn't imitating another person unless he made something 100% similar

It's not even some fucking obscure criticism of Nolan, he was chided for autistically trying to imitate Kubrick for years before Interstellar. Are you really so autistic that you can take things at face value?

>it's oscar bait pulling at heart strings, like Saving Private Ryan but more cliche.
Not at all. There's very little dialogue and only the very end of the film tugs at the heart strings and that tugging is understated compared to Saving Private Ryan and most other Hollywood war films. I recommend checking it out but watch it on the biggest screen you have and pump up the volume.
