The thing with Zizek is I have no idea what is actually original in his thought, rather than just being an explication or straightforward application of Lacan. While Fisher and Dean have been able to make use of his thought overall I’m not totally convinced of its utility.

With Badiou it’s at least a lot more clear that he is a distinctly original thinker, setting aside the question of quality.

Agamben and Sloterdijk are worthwhile candidates.

I’ll throw out that Saul Kripke is still alive.

Chomsky’s strictly philosophical contributions don’t really seem that major. Chalmers is cool and all and he would make my top 25 list, but I don’t think I’d rank him in the top 5.

On the analytic side I’d give it to Robert Brandon, Alasdair Macintyre, Charles Taylor, Will Kymlicka, or Martha Nussbaum( seriously, people here really ought to read the Fragility of Goodness)
