>spend much of the last two years reading philosophy so that i can live a good sincere life
>see the fallout 76 trailor and remember the fun of fallout 4
>reinstall it
>can't enjoy it anymore because its so violent and cynical

Is this the power of philosophy?

Philosophy and a greater appreciation for art have also caused me to develop a great sensitivity. I saw the new Deadpool movie with a group of friends a week ago and fund it an ugly, cynical celebration of the unchecked Id. A fantasy for adult-babies who dream of being able to act on any single impulse they have, and to do so without consequence because the world simply conforms to the force of their epic personality (composed of nothing but stitched together pop-culture references and catchphrases).

I love contemplating philosophy and I can still enjoy violence in media. I think you may be overthinking the content or something if you don’t enjoy it because of the violence. It sounds like a part of you might want to evade anything remotely violent or negative entirely, which you can try, but violence is the nature of the universe so maybe just accept that it’s fictional and love it again or move to a monastery.

Is that bad? I wouldn’t think so as long as the consumer doesn’t lose their grip on reality.
