There has been countless backlash against many of his translators, tons of poor scholarly reviews about them, etc. Just a controversial situation overall. Who is the GOAT Dostoevsky translator? I want to start reading Crime and Punishment but I don’t know who to choose.

The best Dostoyevsky translation if the one you most enjoy reading Anon, you shouldn't worry about such things just find a copy and read. There will be plenty of time to debate between editions after you have your own personal experience of any number of his novels.

Knowing how pretentious /lit/ is, I'm going with whatever you guys call pleb. Whatever this P&V is, it's probably a better read than Garnett

So you're asking /lit/ to clear things up?

>>11244600
See? You ask and then you immediately discard the answers.

My three favourite writers are Russian/read the Russians in original/anglo but lived before Dosto wrote his novels, so you're wrong :^)
