>Art is for self-expression! The Artists' greatest ambition should be self-expression!

Who came up with this fucktarded virtue? Is this the reason Art is so partisan now?

Wouldn't it be the opposite? Politics restricts self-expression.

No since self-expression champions the individuals views/beliefs/politics over everything which, in fiction, can make characters a mouthpiece for the author's beliefs rather than their own thing. The individuals' politcs are number one priority.

No, that's just shitty writing.

Putting everything into fleshing out characters, creating a world, setting up a powerful story, etc. is just as much self-expression as going on a political rant.

so what?

If that is the individual pergotive so be it.
What you seem to want is for everyone to cater to your interest.
Typical fucking narcissist cunt.
Being an artist means disrupting the status quo, never catering to the elite or the critics.
You are just mad that an artist might have different politics than you

What you want is not art. You want a product. You want someone to cater to your fee fees by marketing to your self indulgent intrests.

If the artist caters to the masses then there is no artist.

Art is elitist.

That's not what I want, I'm not making a stake on what art is. Art and politics are inseparable but there's also the self indulgence of producing fictions where the characters and plot are only there to as a vehicle for the author's own interests, leading to the contrived. I'm not here to shout about a 'leftist' agenda, I'm talking 'political' in the plainest sense, I'm all for 'disrupting the status quo' and refusing to appeal to mass sensibilities, but that's different from creating a self-serving narrative to validate ones own views' it's art, but it's boring, indulgent art.
