Further proof that a novel could be total garbage but if NYRB slaps their logo/cover style on it, it becomes "based".
I bet you fags would buy a shitty YA title if it had a NYRB cover style. Wouldn't be surprised if half of these NYRB shills are fakes for books that are actually YA shit.

That cover is fucking crazy, from the thumbnail it looks like people walking down a road and in the distance there's a structure but it's literally just fucking blue.

Apparently Jean Giono was asked to write an introduction to his French translation of Moby-Dick, and he ended up writing a novella where he fictionalizes Melville’s inspiration for the work and turns it into a roman a clef about an affair he himself had with some woman. It’s right up /lit/’s alley

This is less embarrassing than a bookshelf full of penguin or oxford classics because NYRB have a book club where they send you a new novel every month

Yes, his novels are great

NYRB puts out some great shit. The is definetly some fanboys absolutely raving about it and it can get annoying the level of materialism and pedantic posturing that they do, especially in places like instagram. but that doesnt discredit NYRB, another one that is great is New Directions, and I suspect that eventually they'll get a higher spike in reviews and posts.

Except they won't because the only reason people care about NYRB on this site is "muh aesthetics". They could care less about the content of the book.
