The musician that puts her heart into seeming like a poet then wants to be considered poetic by her references. References have to be the worst part of any song writer. To ask someone to consider the pop song as a poem is ok as long as you're aware that the immediate emotional impact of a word or sentence within it can't be referential like it is in a poem, not in the same manner anyhow.
