Russell considered Buddha's teaching to be partly scientific, partly speculative philosophy.

Ibn Arabi, Al-Ghazalli, Averroes, Avicenna, Ibn Khaldun for Philoshopy. If you want to read an amazing documentation of perhaps the greatest adventure of all time read some of Ibn Battuta a berber chad. He traveled from Tangier to China and had 100s of wives and families along the way. If you want to understand a little about modern Islamic warfare you can read Ibn Taymiyyah. But be careful with him, he wrote while he was fighting the Mongols so his work can really fuck you up. If you're interested in Islamic Astronomy which was a major field of research for them you can check out Ibn al-Haytham, Abu Maʿshar, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, and Al-Biruni. There is a black poet named Al-jafiz who among other things wrote about the superiority of the black man over the arabs, pretty useless but interesting nonetheless. Also if you're interested in the occult you can try to find Ghayatt al Hakim(picatrix), a "book of spells" from islamic arab and berber history, you may need to know arabic or spanish to read because i dont think its in english. Contrary to what /lit/ says there is plenty of interesting work to be found in eastern and islamic philosophy, i've delved in to some of it but their is plenty more.

Also along the way of looking in to this stuff, you will come across a lot of butthurt persian nationalist claiming that "it was all persians" but that is simply not the case. There were almost an even amount of persian and arab contributors with a lot of Turkic and Berbers mixed in. Modern persians just really hate arabs and turks. Just wanted to bring it up so your research doesn't get muddied.

Attar of Nishapur's poem "conference of the birds" is one of the most thorough explanations of why sunni sufi islam is the more logical path of islam. It's pretty interesting that some of the most staunch defenses of sunni sufi islam was by the persians who ended up being focefully converted to shia islam.

Its not really a book, more like an undertone across his entire body of work. He was one of the first prominent scholars that promoted full scale jihads against other groups of Muslims. He started doing this after the muslim mongols joined forces with armenian christians and rampaged syria. He then said

>You claim that you are Muslim and you have with you Mu'adhdhins, Muftis, Imams and Shaykhs but you invaded us and reached our country for what? While your father and your grandfather, Hulagu were non-believers, they did not attack and they kept their promise. But you promised and broke your promise.

His sermons really changed Sunni Islam to be more offensive and not be afraid of fighting other muslims.

Although he was sufi, he is held in high regards by countries like Saudi Arabia and groups like Al qaeda. Even ISIS used his sermons for propaganda purposes. This doesn't make him a bad imam or anything but an interesting case study to study modern Islam philosophy and warfare.

Thanks for that, I also checked the wikipedia article which also talked about his fatwas against fighting other muslims

I find it absurd to label it as the `first muslim vs muslim thing` though, they were killing each other way before mongos, hell you can start from first fitna

Considering the massive exposure to both chinese and islamic cultures, did the mongols develop any philosophy/ers before and after their steppe roidrage?

im talking less about civil wars and more about conquest. Like the Ottoman empire vs Timurid empire. But of course you are right about Muslims killing Muslims has existed since day one.

>>10993838
Islamo-Mongol cultures exist until today. 3/4 Mongol Hordes converted to Islam. Also I believe the Mughal empire was ruled by Khan decendants. And if you consider the ottomans to be spiritual descendants of turko-mongols tradition then there was some philosophy there.

No I was talking about how the platonic-aristotelian philosophia is a logical -argumentantive and eastern "philosophy" isn't and "philosophy" is a misnomer applied to it by clueless westerners
