What does /lit/ think of my stack? Spent two days downloading and formatting my entire physical library and things I want to read, and I still have space for thousands of more books.

>thousands of books in one hand
>all my commentary and bookmarks backed up to the cloud
>easy to switch between and search books for research
>integrated on- and offline dictionaries and encyclopedias with sound for reference
>can adjust brightness, text size, font, etc.
>no stains, no dogeared pages, and no paper cuts
>no need to buy shelves and take up space
>don't have to carry around a bag or hold on to a book in public
>not being bothered when reading or being self-conscious of presentation since people think I'm just dicking around on my phone

Alright, these are my most recent (to arrive, got more coming), as well as being probably my nicest looking as I’ve just become serious about collecting this year. Can you believe I bought all these with Australian welfare money? Instead of buying food or anything I spent all my payment immediately on books then deal with the consequences of having no money for the rest of the fortnight.

Currently reading Artorius Rex (Latin for Arthur the king), the green book is Geoffrey on Monmouth’s history of the kings of Britain from the 12th century and 2 books from Welsh historians Alan Wilson and Baram Blackett on King Arthur and dark age Britain. The 4 volume set innabox is obviously Plutarchs Lives from the folio society.

Can you imagine what it feels like to be a real aristocrat like myself and to come here and look about stacks of paperbacks by hipster authors being posted here by the STD infected scum froth that makes up this ‘community’?

Give me your virgin daughters and die pls.

That was a struggle. Phone crashed 3-4 times but I got there in the end.

While I was posting all that it made me wonder why book porn threads aren't more common here. Is it because no one here has nice books? Do you only collect piles you got for $10 that otherwise were headed for the dump? Are you all under 6' tall and weak af?

I really don't understand why all this is so. Once again, I'm a fucking NEET on welfare and I'm collecting all these nice things that are the best reads in the world that I want to pass down through my family and yet this entire board has nothing for me, NOTHING!

I get my next fortnightly payment in 12 hours and am buying a 5 art book collection for about $415 including delivery ($55 from USA to Aus), and will thus leave be broke for the next two weeks but It'll be worth it when I show you plebs just what these books are and how rare and collectable they are. Not even to mention the absolute beauty! Art books and photography books are so underrated. I had all these pictures online already and wasn't sure if having a book of them was a good idea but I got one recently and its so much better than than on screen. Its like comparing a pdf to a physical book. Or even a jpg to an actual framed piece of art on the wall. I can sit for an hour + just staring are my beautiful collections and escape this degenerate world.

pic is a book I bought a month ago and already showed off here when it arrived. Fucking beautiful, isn't it? 16th century British work of art in a brand new limited edition 2 volume box set. BABY BABY WONT YOU PUT THIS BURKA ON? YOU BEEN LIVIN' YOUR LIFE LIKE A THOT FOR FAR TO LONG!

It was on sale and it looked nice. I don't usually care about hardcover or ornateness for a book, since I try to get stuff second hand (lots of great stuff at local Goodwills/thrift stores). Generally my order of operations for a new book is:

1. Translation (if relevant)
2. Price
3. Margins (for notes)

But a gold-leaf illustrated Bible of that size, hardcover, for $20? I'll pay that. I'm not a devout Christian myself, but I respect my Catholic heritage. It just seemed right to me.

I read both of them back to back in high school and remember liking both of them.

I re-read The Once and Future King about four months ago at the age of 28 and it's now one of my favorite novels. I plan on re-reading Mists at some point. If I recall it correctly, it was a "feminist" interpretation of Arthurian legend in the vein of "this is the story as imagined from the perspectives of prominent women from within the legend" and was still highly enjoyable because it aimed to tell a good story foremost. It wasn't a contemporary "feminist" adaptation wherein all the men are morons and the women are superior.

Samefag here. The 5 art book collection didnt materialize because one of the books in the collection, the best one, had just been sold because the seller was also selling each book individually but for higher prices.

So instead I bought The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Edward Gibbon (8 volumes) by the Folio Society.

Also Chronicles of the Dark Ages 3 volume set: The Coming Of The Anglo-Saxons, Anglo-Saxon Lore And Learning, The Fall Of The Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms. Also by Folio Society.

Total 11 high quality history books for $300 Australian. Glad the 5 art photography books feel through now because they wouldnt costed me $100 more just for some nice pictures (by David Hamilton).

Once I read these I'll do book reviews on youtube and maybe even some jimmy rustling history to troll everyone from people who believe cuck history to the German worshipping Alt Right circle jerkers. Eye'm too big brained for them all and am researching ancient British history from the oldest sources themselves to put together a far more inspiring version just like Adolf wanted in Mein Kampf.

Hail Hitler, brother. But anyone who buys from everyman's library is a low energy degenerate. Their edition of The history of the decline and fall of the Roman Empire doesn't even have the illustrations. I dont think any of their books do. Fucking disgusting. They're literally selling cheap reprints of books in the public domain with bland covers.

A book case should be a work of art. You should want to stand before it and look in awe for hours day dreaming about the epics you've read over the years. Visitors will be mesmerised, if they have a mind to take in what they're seeing. If they just glance and keep moving or talking etc then you know you have a degenerate brainlet on your hands you must get rid of at once.

Wasn't sure if I should buy it or not but, as if by fate, that very week someone on youtube made a complete review of the book in detail. Sold me on buying it and glad I did.

Parts of it are in untraslated Latin though, as originally written by Dee himself, so you either have to learn Latin or do what I did and type those parts out into google translate.

I'm the anon who wrote the smartphone post above. Current stack (to read) is The Magic Mountain, Oblomov, The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge, and Nadja. A friend recommended his favorite novels, and I'd rather read through those until I eventually have to address his recommendations of Jurassic Park, Einstein's Dreams, and the 2001/2010 Odysseys. Seems like you're into nonfiction pretty heavily. Why lead you to picking up the Dialogues?

Local used bookstore haul. First chapter of David Copperfield was really great. Plan on reading Lattimore Iliad before Pope.

By autistic you mean intense, focused, mastery. Ordered this yesterday. Easton Press doesnt ship to Australia so I had to find a copy on ebay and the fucking postage costed twice as much as the book. Not sure whats going on there as books from Britain and France cost half as much to ship.

Look forward to reading it and love the cover which is why I had to have this edition. British lion is my spirit animal.

i was reading The Open Society and its Enemies where he talks a lot about the Republic and the Statesman. Awesome book. Magic Mountain actually looks pretty cool at a glance, don't know why but it reminded me of Simplicius Simplicissimus

Memes aside though that's rather impressive for a young girl. She seems to be relatively high IQ, take good care of her and breed her like a prized sow anon.
