Just watched like 6 hours of this guy's content. Not a single mention of cleaning your room, lobsters, or 'bucko' the entire time. Don't fall for the memes, bros.

I'm a fedora tipping atheist and this guy's stuff is seriously some of the best philosophical content online. Fuck everyone on here that puts people off him when he is doing so much to try and help people.

I'll take that, but I would give every fedora tipper like me the entire video catalogues of JBP and Gregory Sadler, because the combination has opened my philosophical tastes up by a large degree.

>>10954413
Nice projection. If anything JBP has made me more open minded. A year ago I would have dismissed him simply for using religion in his philosophy.

Peterson is good if you are hopeless and all you need is a teensy bit of motivation to turn your life around.
His the father many white males wish they had.

Also his psychological analysis of the bible is fun

solid 6/10 brainlet philosopher but a 8/10 psychologist

The difference between Gregory and Jordan is that the former won't trade his gift for teaching with an agenda as time goes on.

>but a 8/10 psychologist

you do not understand what psychology is, why do you feel capable of rating the man
he lies (often) to make a point, like in the channel4 interview where he lies about there being more women physicians than men (this is not true for Canada, nor the US)
he draws up cooky diagraphs that make no sense to anyone but himself and his fans that interpret the guy hermeneutically
he has delusions of being a messiah-like character, writing this to his dad
>I don’t know, Dad, but I think I have discovered something that no one else has any idea about, and I’m not sure I can do it justice. Its scope is so broad that I can see only parts of it clearly at one time, and it is exceedingly difficult to set down comprehensibly in writing…. Anyways, I’m glad you and Mom are doing well. Thank you for doing my income tax returns.

having this in the book's epigraph:
>“I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world” — Matthew 13:35

(he took 14 years to write this book and there's not a sliver of substance in it)

Sure, but that's a product of our political climate. You're not allowed to be centrist anymore, especially in north america and canada. It's too polarized, and unfortunately the media forced JBP to pick a side. Obviously, he wouldn't have gone with the radical left.

I agree that they're different, and that's why I like them. There'd be no point having two teachers that are exactly the same, right? Gregory's comfiness is a nice change from the style Jordan uses.

In Jordan's case I agree that politics are a big part of it, as his positioned himself against Trudeau. However, Greg is an actual scholar of political philosophy and again, doesn't utilize it for tantalizing the media. I suspect JP is doing more harm than good in the end by trying to make the weak the strong without being honest about his belief in God. Greg at least admits he is a Christian even though he isn't always 'on the best terms' with God. Of course yu are allowed to be centrist, just dont expect the overwhelming majority to willingly engage with the big picture. You probably know this if youve read the Republic. Just a few thoughts...

>However, Greg is an actual scholar of political philosophy and again, doesn't utilize it for tantalizing the media.
I completely agree. I love Greg's work and agree that when it comes to philosophy he is miles ahead of Peterson when it comes to teaching.

>I suspect JP is doing more harm than good in the end by trying to make the weak the strong without being honest about his belief in God.
I can see why he does it, although it does irritate me. Unfortunately, if he was fully open about it, he would put off all the atheistic ideologues like me, which arguably are the kind of young men that need him most.

>Of course yu are allowed to be centrist, just dont expect the overwhelming majority to willingly engage with the big picture. You probably know this if youve read the Republic.
I understand what you're saying, and that's the problem - which is that these days being centrist is the political equivalent of being a fence-sitter or simply ambivalent. You're completely right when you say that it's difficult to engage with the big picture as a centrist, but I want to reiterate that it's at the fault of a polarized political climate - not a fault of centrism itself.

I can also assure you that if Greg received the same amount of media attention as Jordan he would be forced to pick a side. I sincerely hope he never has to be put in that position, because it would ruin his charm. Peterson, however, was always destined to be an orator of some sort just because of his personality.

Peterson is also good if you are hopeless and all you need is someone you can bash in order to make it look like your life is not completely fucked up.

If you scroll through 4chan you can observe a number of psychological disabilities that can make you wonder why Peterson is hated. Just open any "what's on your mind" thread.

Maybe you all need him. You are just too proud to admit it.

someone should be able to lucidly explain their thoughts without resorting to such extravagant, cheap, lurid body-language that it would necessitate wearing a face-mic.
Ask yourself honestly if you would have felt so enthused about peterson's ideas if they were expressed by a morbid, monotone, immobile, non-descript being infront of a paltry audience of nobodies.

and keep your wallet shut. he doesn't need you buying his books (pdf's are free) or throwing money at his patreon.

Peterson impresses only brainlets who never read a real philosopher in their lives.

He is what Molyneux is to philosophy.
He is what Joe Rogan is to spirituality.
He is what McDonald's is to culinary art
He is what Alex Jones is to political thinking
etc.

I am implying that. Example-- Greg doesn't expect you to buy into stoicism. He even explicitly mentions where he diverges with them; among other philosphers likes and doesn't. Jordan, however, expects you to be a Jungian in good faith and never goes in detail critiquing or engaging with the post modern types he is oh so against.
