The only thing stopping that from happening to this board is the assumption that it's only about fiction. Most assume a reading/writing board on 4chan would be scifi and underage fanfic, that pretense is what saves us. The grey area of philosophy discussion needs to remain, and if the mod had any balls he'd make the rule incredible vague in order to abuse it on /pol/ or blatant ideology posting.

I'm a long-time browser of /lit/ and I have often thought that it is the worst board on 4chan. In order to get the most out of /lit/ you have to have very low expectations and adopt its relaxed manner. /lit/ does not take itself seriously at all (unlike say /sci/) and there are occasions of brilliance here that you must wait for while dabbling in the light semi-intellectual shitposting.
