ergodic literature is literature that plays with the design of the book, text appearing upside down or read in an unorthodox way and the design of the book being integral to the story. Things like Apollonaire's calligrammes, E e cummings, bp Nichol, or hypertext are good examples. It doesn't necessarily mean that the text is self reflexive or brechtian, it just means the presentation of the book is rather unorthodox.

Thanks for that. House of leaves definitely fits that bill. The part where hes falling through the labyrinth was one of the best parts of the whole book.
