My gf also reads but it is trash. So I've been trying to get her to read Infinite Jest. First I tried to convince her about the greatness of the book. Well, didn't work. So I told her to just read it and she didn't want to. After so many attempts of letting her appreciate this work I got angry at her and called her a pseud pleb. We haven't talked since then, and I haven't even introduced her properly to Pynchon and Joyce. How do you guys deal with these sort of things?

By not clinging to a certain facet of my life and basing my identity around it solely. I enjoy shooting firearms. My wife has a little. 22lr pistol and that's all she likes to shoot.
